The candidate will be responsible for the design, development and release of switch components utilized throughout the vehicle. The candidate will interface with several functional areas to ensure the Switch component being developed performs to customer expectation and Ford requirements. This position will provide a unique and challenging D&R experience combining electrical, mechanical, styling, software, and vehicle-level system performance.\n What you'll do...\nThis position is for a Switch Component Design and Release Engineer. The Core Component engineer will work with the Program Application Engineer(s) to design, develop and release a switch component for specific Programs.\n\nWork within a cross-function team (supplier, Program teams, studio, ergonomics, purchasing)\n\nUtilize core engineering documents and core design rules to initiate and to lead Full-Service Supplier (FSS) delivery of DFMEA, DVP&Rs, 8D’s, and all other program specific foundation documents.\n\nCreate component specifications, Quality Documents and drawings with the FSS\n\nConduct technical design reviews with the component supplier\n\nAs needed, support /generate development of Functional Specifications, Engineering Specifications, Diagnostic Specifications\n\nWork closely with suppliers and quality group to understand and improve R/1000, TGW concerns\n\nWork closely with supplier, purchasing and OCE team to ensure Cost targets are met, and cost efficient product is achieved\n\nDesign, development and release of switch components aligned with Ford Global Product Development System (GPDS) process/milestone deliverables\n\nLead component development/release and component concerns resolution utilizing Ford Product Development tools such as FEDE, FEDEBOM, TYGRA, WERS, VSEM, JIRA/JAMA, eFDVS, CDP&R, Integrator, DEMS/AIMS, etc.\n\nAttend/Lead/Support Commodity PATs and support Vehicle/Program Launch (as needed)\n\nSome travel required to support Ford Assembly Plants and/or Supplier facilities, especially during Program Launch phase\n\nContinuously improve D&R process by enhancing requirements based on lessons learned\n\n You'll have...\nBachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or similar field)\n\n3+ years experience related to the development of electromechanical components\n\nExperience in Design and Release project engineering\n\nAbility to work independently without close supervision; self-starter\n\nEven better, you may have...\nMaster's Degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or similar field)\n\n5+ years experience related to the development of electromechanical components\n\nPrevious experience related to the development of switches or other electrical/electronic components for automotive applications\n\nPast experience in working with/within a large, diverse cross-functional team\n\nProgram/Project and supplier management and negotiation experience\n\nYou may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!\nAs an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice.
