You’ll play a key role in building and scaling our React Native application, which is critical to how governments collect, act on, and communicate real-world data in the field.\nThis is a high-impact role at the intersection of geospatial data, field operations, and climate resilience -where performance, reliability, and usability directly affect outcomes for communities.\nWhat You’ll Do\nBuild and scale mobile applications using React Native, delivering high-quality, performant experiences across iOS and Android\n\nOwn features end-to-end, from early design and architecture through production and iteration\n\nDevelop intuitive, responsive mobile interfaces that work seamlessly in real-world field conditions (low connectivity, high urgency)\n\nCollaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to ship impactful features\n\nIntegrate and optimize APIs, geospatial data, and real-time workflows within mobile applications\n\nIdentify and solve performance bottlenecks to ensure native-like speed and reliability\n\nContribute to mobile architecture decisions, including when to leverage native modules (iOS/Android) for performance or platform-specific needs\n\nImprove developer experience through tooling, testing, and best practices\n\nMentor engineers and help raise the bar for mobile engineering across the team\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong focus on mobile development\n\n3+ years building production applications with React Native\n\nDeep proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React\n\nExperience building and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications (iOS + Android)\n\nStrong understanding of mobile performance, UI/UX, and responsiveness\n\nExperience integrating RESTful APIs and handling complex data flows\n\nFamiliarity with native mobile development (Swift/Kotlin or Objective-C/Java) and when to use it\n\nStrong product sense and ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-moving environments\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills\n\nNice to Have\nExperience with offline-first or field-based mobile applications\n\nBackground in geospatial data, mapping, or GIS systems\n\nExperience with state management (Redux, Context API) and modern mobile architecture patterns\n\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps and app store deployments\n\nExperience working in GovTech, climate tech, or other regulated/complex domains\n\nWhat We Offer\nForerunner is an early stage company with an interdisciplinary team.
