Position Summary

Forge Nano is seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused Quality Technician to support inspection, testing, calibration, and quality assurance activities across manufacturing operations. This role reports to the Quality Manager and is responsible for ensuring products, materials, and processes consistently meet customer requirements, engineering specifications, and company quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude, experience with inspection and measurement systems, and a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Quality Control & Inspection

  • Perform product, process, and material inspections to verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Document and report inspection results, quality findings, and nonconforming conditions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Part Quality Control Criteria and inspection plans.
  • Partner with the Quality Manager, Engineering, and Tooling teams to identify Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) characteristics and establish appropriate quality controls.
  • Provide support for quality-related projects and assignments of moderate complexity.
  • Review engineering drawings and product specifications utilizing SolidWorks.

Calibration & Measurement Systems

  • Monitor calibration activities and identify, report, and facilitate corrective actions for Calibration Out-of-Tolerance (OOT) incidents.
  • Maintain and support calibration programs for inspection, measurement, and test equipment.
  • Execute Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies and measurement system evaluations.
  • Perform data analysis and complete required validation, testing, and inspection reports.
  • Support validation activities and measurement system effectiveness initiatives.
  • Ensure inspection and testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain a structured approach to ensure consistency and adherence to quality procedures and requirements.
  • Participate in investigations related to Nonconformance Reports (NCRs), Out-of-Tolerance conditions, and customer complaints.
  • Assist in developing, revising, and maintaining quality procedures, work instructions, and related documentation.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Part Quality Control Criteria and quality documentation.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits to ensure ongoing compliance with quality management systems.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to quality issues.
  • Analyze quality data and inspection trends to identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, manufacturing processes, and inspection effectiveness.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product reliability, consistency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote quality best practices throughout manufacturing and operational processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training

  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support quality objectives.
  • Provide technical support related to inspection methods, measurement systems, and product quality requirements.
  • Deliver training and guidance to team members responsible for performing quality-related tasks.
  • Support implementation and adoption of quality standards, procedures, and best practices throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality, manufacturing, inspection, or a related technical field.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments, inspection tools, and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience documenting inspection results, quality findings, and corrective action activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with quality documentation, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) certification.
  • Experience with calibration systems, validation protocols, and GR&R studies.
  • Working knowledge of ISO-based quality systems and quality auditing processes.
  • Experience investigating NCRs, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and engineering drawing review.
  • Knowledge of statistical quality tools and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing quality systems and quality control plans.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and manufacturing environments and routinely utilizes computers, testing equipment, measurement tools, and manufacturing systems. Regular interaction with production, engineering, and quality teams is expected.

Physical Requirements

This position requires periods of sitting, standing, walking through manufacturing areas, and reviewing products and equipment. Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds may be required.

Travel

Limited travel may be required to support suppliers, customers, training activities, or business operations.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: This is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position with a pay range of $27.00 to $29.00 per hour, commensurate with the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. Overtime may be available and is subject to prior management approval. Placement within the pay range will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and alignment with internal equity considerations among current employees.
