This role follows the standardized procedures, methods, and processes for estimating that have been established. Coordinates overall estimates and proposals in conjunction with the assigned capture-team and present periodic and final submittals to the regional manager and other corporate representatives as required for review and input. We are dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for complex civil, geotechnical, and environmental challenges, guided by our core values: We Do What We Say, We Are Passionate About Our Work, We Are One Team, We Work Smart, and We Do The Right Thing.\nKey Responsibilities\nDemonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.\nWork with an assigned capture team to identify and develop solutions and estimate the resources required for both simple and complex projects.\nPrepare detailed and organized cost estimates using HCSS software and assist with other submittal documents (including schedules, diagrams, work plans, figures, etc.) for proposals that require additional information as part of the bidding process.\nAssess and communicate project risks based on a thorough knowledge of proposal documents.\nCoordinates the preparation of quantity takeoffs from project plans and documents with help from the capture team.\nUnderstand measurement and payment terms and apply to the development of an estimate.\nThoroughly understand drawings and specifications and review with capture team and identify areas of concern that may require additional clarification prior to the bid date.\nUnderstand how equipment and labor rates are developed and applied accurately to estimates.\nHelp identify ideas that will create competitive advantages over the other bidders.\nCoordinate with capture team to obtain multiple competitive quotes for materials and subcontracted services.\nPrepare ‘high-level’ proposal schedules utilizing critical-path scheduling software.\nHelp to maintain updated database of cost information (historical cost analysis of labor and equipment rates).\nAttend pre-bid walks (preconstruction meetings) as needed and utilize comprehensive industry experience to determine the technical needs of the project based upon site restrictions.\nAssemble bid-files (including all development information) that were utilized in preparation of the estimates.\nCreate professional relationships and uphold our reputation with our clients and partners by interfacing effectively with owner/client, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.\nMeet deadlines and put in the time needed to complete bids, estimates and related tasks.\nProvide mentorship to estimating staff and interns.\nPerform additional assignments as directed.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience.\nEight (8+) years of estimating experience in heavy-civil preferred or similar industries (geotechnical and/or environmental remediation fields).\nScheduling software experience (Primavera/MS Project) is required.\nEstimating software experience (Bid2Win/B2W, HCSS, or similar) is required.\nQuantity takeoff software experience (Agtek/AutoCAD).\nSkilled in project management and analytical thinking, with strong construction engineering knowledge.\nMotivated, safety-focused, and committed to excellence, ethics, and integrity.\nStrong organizational, time management, and attention to detail, with ability to meet goals independently.\nProficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.\nExcellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with proactive and creative decision-making.\nCollaborative team player, responsive to both internal and external stakeholders.\nValid Driver’s License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience estimating on >$2 Mil projects is preferred.\nPhysical Demands & Work Environment\nThis office-based role requires frequent computer use and effective communication, with occasional travel to project sites as needed.
