Then keep reading - you’ve come to the right place.\nRole Description\nThe Electrode Mechanical Engineering team within the Core Technology group at Form is multidisciplinary and focused on delivering qualified battery anode and cathode designs that meet operational performance targets, at cost and with high reliability, from controlled processes on high-volume manufacturing lines for Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.\nAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing components and assemblies for our cells or enclosures! You'll own the design of components and assemblies from concept to production, with a strong emphasis on design for manufacturing and assembly. As a problem solver, you'll creatively tackle mechanical design challenges and apply your knowledge of designing sheet metal components for mass manufacturing. You'll work cross-functionally with teams on requirements definition and verification plans to deliver a design that meets those requirements. Comfortable working in a prototype shop environment, you'll communicate with manufacturers to deliver an optimized, production-ready design. Your design work will span a broad range of engineering disciplines, including heat transfer and mechanics. If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, apply now! \nWhat you'll do:\nLead on-the-ground design efforts including failure analysis, setting specs, and updating electrode mechanical designs\n\nPerform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypes\n\nWork with vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume production\n\nRun and analyze trials to inform specs and future design direction\n\nRelease designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)\n\nDrive verification testing of your design work\n\nWhat you'll bring:\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 4+ years industry experience in mechanical design\n\nProficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically CATIA modeling and drafting\n\nProficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially formed / stamped sheet metal components.\n\nProficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop or production environment\n\nFamiliarity with mechanical verification testing\n\nExperience working with batteries, energy storage, fuel cells, or electrolyzers is a plus\n\nExperience with high volume manufacturing and automation is a plus\n\nWhere you'll work:\nThis role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV-an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing.
