This role requires extensive expertise in both manual and CNC machining, with a strong foundation in prototype development, process optimization, and batch manufacturing. The Senior Machinist serves as a technical expert within the machine shop, collaborating closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions that support the company's continued growth.\nKey Responsibilities:\nSet up, program, operate, and troubleshoot CNC milling machines, lathes, and machining centers to produce complex precision components.\nPerform manual machining operations using conventional mills, lathes, and other machine shop equipment.\nDevelop and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software to improve quality, efficiency, and repeatability.\nManufacture prototype and production parts from engineering drawings, models, and specifications.\nInterpret complex mechanical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.\nSelect appropriate tooling, workholding methods, cutting parameters, and machining strategies based on material properties and design requirements.\nPerform dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments, gauges, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).\nVerify product quality and ensure compliance with engineering and customer specifications.\nRecommend process improvements that increase productivity, reduce setup times, and improve overall manufacturing performance.\nCollaborate effectively with engineering, scientific, assembly, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges and support product development.\nMaintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced machinists and machine shop personnel.\nPreferred Experience and Qualifications:\nProven experience supporting both prototype development and production manufacturing environments.\nStrong understanding of GD&T principles and interpretation of engineering drawings.\nDemonstrated experience with manual inspection methods and precision measurement tools.\nExpertise in CNC milling and turning operations.\nWorking knowledge of machining centers; familiarity with HAAS controls is highly desirable.\nStrong understanding of machining practices, including speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and material properties.\nProficiency using precision measurement equipment and inspection techniques.\nExcellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and quality.\nExperience operating and programming Haas CNC machines.\nExtensive prototype machining experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.\nExperience with GibbsCAM programming software.\nMachining trade school certificate, apprenticeship completion, or related technical coursework.\nCoordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and inspection experience.\nStrong mathematics and trigonometry skills applicable to machining and manufacturing processes.\nPay Range Explained:\nThis role in Boulder, Colorado pays between $24.00 and $30.18 per hour, depending on your experience, skills, and background.
