In addition to the software we ship to our customers, there is software everywhere behind the scenes at Formlabs. We have custom tools that allow our engineers to study and improve printer performance, as well as for calibration, manufacturing, and data analysis. As a manufacturing test software intern, you’ll work at the intersection of hardware and software, developing critical functionality that enables us to build the best professional 3D printers on the market.\nIf you’re passionate about software and want to help build excellent software, we want you as a Manufacturing Test Software Intern.\nInternship Term: Winter/Spring 2026 (January-April)\nCommitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)\nLocation: Onsite in Somerville, MA (in-person)\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDevelop and maintain advanced software tools to support calibration, validation, and rigorous testing of electromechanical and robotic systems across our product lines.\nManage requirements and set expectations with cross-functional teams-including hardware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers-to deliver testing solutions successfully and on time.\nPerform hardware modifications to printers and test setups to facilitate experimental processes.\nOwn the full lifecycle of the test tools ecosystem, including design, validation, documentation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.\nUse data science to analyze production lines and provide insights to the operations organization.\nContinuously improve our development and deployment processes to streamline software releases across our global factories.\nAbout You:\nExperienced developing applications using Python, SQL and Linux\nStrong understanding of software integration with embedded systems and engineering of complex electromechanical systems\nHave a knack for creative solutions to difficult real world problems\nReady to take features from initial concept through design and implementation\nExperience with robotics and Linux\nBonus: experience working in manufacturing\nIntern Benefits & Perks:\nFlexible Out of Office Plan - take time when you need it\nSalaried bi-weekly pay schedule\nAmple on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefits\nCatered on-site lunches (3x per week), snacks, beverages, & treats\nCohort-based social and professional development experience for interns\nMany opt-in culture events across our diverse community\nAnd of course… unlimited 3D prints\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization. This is a salaried role, so you will always be paid based on the assumed 40 hours per week as a full-time intern.
