Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter, capable of reviewing their own work thoroughly to check for issues and mistakes, and somebody who is proactive in locating and fixing existing bugs as well as proposing new features and ways to streamline the internal design of the system. The candidate will be expected to learn some Python and C coding (if not already proficient) for integration with the rest of the system; candidates with existing Python, C, and/or Cython experience are especially well-qualified in this regard.\nJob Responsibilities:\nLocate, fix, and verify bugs in the FortiSwitchOS web-based GUI code.\n\nBrainstorm, propose, and implement new features for the GUI.\n\nInvestigate bugs that may have associations or origins in other parts of the codebase (which is predominantly C code).\n\nInterface with other FortiSwitch team members to gain information or help diagnose and fix bugs that manifest in the GUI.\n\nWrite and maintain significant amounts of i18n- and a11y- compliant HTML, JS and CSS, with careful attention to TypeScript rules, SCSS syntax, and general coding practices already reflected in the codebase.\n\nCompose functional specifications for new features and interface with QA, management, product, and/or other engineers to discuss and refine these specifications.\n\nPropose and proactively implement changes to the structure of the GUI codebase in order to improve maintainability and simplify the code structure and size.\n\nAssess and improve performance of the GUI system including both middleware/backend portions and frontend aspects and implement streamlined alternatives.\n\nRequirements:\nAt least 5 years of experience in front-end web development\n\nFamiliarity or fluency with Typescript and SCSS.\n\nFluency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript (ES6).\n\nProficient in the use of AJAX and Promise methodologies.\n\nFamiliar with front-end component-based frameworks such as Vue or React.\n\nAbility to learn new languages and technologies/frameworks quickly.\n\nEducation in algorithmic complexity (independent of a particular language).\n\nSelf-motivated with strong problem solving, diagnostic, and documentation skills.\n\nAbility to interface seamlessly with remote workers.\n\nEducation:\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related area.\nMust be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.\nThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000-$180,000.
