Join us, and together, let's shape a brighter future for B.C.\nPosition Overview\nReporting to the Operations Manager, System Control Centre, you will lead a team of highly skilled professionals responsible for monitoring and supporting the provincial power system. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring system reliability, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture, while helping the Control Centre adapt to evolving operational needs and industry requirements.\nResponsibilities\nProvide leadership, coaching, and direction to the Control Centre team, ensuring safe and efficient day-to-day operations.\nOversee resource planning, scheduling, and work prioritization to support transmission, distribution, and generation activities.\nLead the team’s response to operational issues, emergencies, and system events.\nEnsure compliance with safety requirements, reliability standards, policies, and operating procedures.\nManage Control Centre operating budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize costs.\nBuild strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry partners and regulatory organizations.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, technology, and service delivery.\nDevelop team capability through hiring, onboarding, coaching, training, and performance development.\nFoster a culture where safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence are at the forefront of everything we do.\nRequirements\nDiploma of Technology (Electrical, Instrumentation and Electronics) from a recognized program.\n7 - 10 years OR equivalent directly related utility experience (NERC Certification plus 5 years’ experience as a System Operator).\nJourneyperson Tradesperson certification considered an asset.\nOther Qualifications\nDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of the utility industry; understand the impact of outages\nWorking Knowledge of the electric power system infrastructure\nKnowledge of designated operational area and related systems, work methods and procedures.\nDemonstrated ability to lead in emergency response\nAbility to become NERC certified as a transmission operator.
