The scope of the role includes both existing software products and new products in development. The ideal candidate has a strong commitment to excellence, confidence in their data science expertise, started to take initiative and works with less supervision, is a creative problem solver, and a team player.\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\nParticipate in the full software development life-cycle.\nHelp to develop, document, test, and debug machine learning models in production environments.\nFollow and help enforce our development best practices and standards.\nActively participate or sometimes take the lead in Agile ceremonies.\nProvide assistance to less experienced team members.\nEngage with engineering and MLOPs teams to understand requirements and constraints for multiple products.\nCollaborate with other data scientists and engineers within a small team structure.\nContinually pursue independent exploration of related data science topics and technologies.\nBecome a domain expert in one cybersecurity application area.\nAcquire technical expertise on the development of ML models including feature-engineered, LLMs, and generative models.\nWrite technical documentation of small-scale components based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nAt least 4 years of experience in data science roles is required.\nStrong academic background (PhD program in a technical field) is an adequate substitute for a few years of industry experience.\nSolid experience developing data science solutions in at least one major programming language such as Python, Java, or C++.\nSolid knowledge of Data Science techniques and methodologies and demonstrated ability to apply these methodologies in active projects.\nSome Machine Learning (ML) background and experience in at least one application area such as NLP, Computer Vision, or Generative AI.\nSuccessfully developed and deployed multiple ML models in industry.\nComfortable with Python-based frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn.\nDemonstrated ability to collaborate with other data scientists and engineers within a small team.\nSome experience assisting or providing mentorship to junior data scientists.\nGood communication and presentation skills. Ability to convey complicated technical topics to non-technical people both verbally and in writing.\nDemonstrated problem solving ability and critical thinking skill with various types of real-world data.\nExperience with the Agile/Scrum project development methodology.\nInterest in cybersecurity applications.\n\n.\nAt Fortra, we’re breaking the attack chain.
