We are now looking for a Project Development Manager to take a leading role in building and advancing Fortum's BESS development pipeline across Sweden.\nThis is a high-impact role with significant responsibility and visibility. You will be at the center of developing the next generation of flexible energy capacity, working across business units, functions, customers, and external stakeholders to turn opportunities into projects.\nAbout the role\nAs Project Development Manager in the BESS team, you will coordinate and lead the development and permitting of BESS projects in Sweden. You will drive projects from early opportunity identification through permitting and development maturity, ensuring alignment with hybrid wind, solar, and industrial site development activities.\nYou will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to create customer-driven solutions that support Sweden's growing need for flexibility and energy storage.\nKey Responsibilities:\nLead and coordinate Fortum's BESS development and permitting pipeline and activities in Sweden. Build strong relationships with various stakeholders. \nDrive project development activities from opportunity screening through permitting and development milestones with the support from Renewables Project Development team. Continuously identify opportunities to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of project development. \nEngage directly with customers and partners to understand flexibility needs and support the creation of commercially attractive opportunities. \nRepresent our development in customer meetings, stakeholder discussions, and selected external forums. \nCoordinate development activities across multiple internal functions, including Development, Engineering & Technology, Commercial, Business Development, and Project Execution & Operations. \nEnsure adequate resourcing, prioritization, and progress tracking across involved teams. \nSupport business case development and investment decision preparation. \nAbout you\nWe are looking for:\nExperience in renewable energy, energy storage, power generation, infrastructure, or related project development environments. \nStrong project management and stakeholder management skills. \nUnderstanding of permitting, land development, infrastructure projects, or energy markets. \nAbility to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and drive progress in a complex organizational environment. \nCommercial mindset and interest in customer-driven development. \nExcellent communication and collaboration skills. \nAbility to work independently while bringing people together around common goals. \nFluency in Swedish and English. \nWe offer you\nThis role offers a unique opportunity to help shape Fortum's future flexibility business in Sweden.\nYou will: \nTake ownership of an important and growing development portfolio. \nWork at the intersection of batteries, renewables, industrial electrification, and customer solutions. \nInfluence how flexible capacity is developed and deployed in Sweden. \nCollaborate with highly skilled colleagues across Fortum. \nHave a visible role with substantial opportunities to make an impact on Fortum's growth ambitions and the Nordic energy transition. \nAt Fortum, we believe in a better future and want to be involved in shaping it.
