ABOUT THE JOB

The HR Generalist serves as a key business partner to manufacturing leadership and employees, driving workforce effectiveness, employee engagement, compliance, talent acquisition, and organizational performance. This role provides coaching and mentoring to our supervisors to strengthen our position as the preferred place of employment in the community and maintain positive associate relationships. The HR Generalist role thrives in a fast-paced production environment and balances day-to-day HR support with proactive initiatives that improve retention, accountability, safety culture, and employee experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with EHS and Operations teams to champion a strong safety culture.
  • Serve as the primary HR partner for employees and supervisors across multiple departments and shifts.
  • Partner with leaders to execute talent initiatives that attract and retain high-performing team members, including recruitment, leadership development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture rooted in collaboration, accountability, and psychological safety.
  • Facilitate onboarding programs that accelerate employee integration and productivity.
  • Promote positive associate relations by resolving associate concerns proactively and providing excellent customer service.
  • Investigate employee concerns, policy violations, complaints, and workplace conflicts in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
  • Coach managers on performance management, employee development, corrective actions, accountability, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct stay interviews and analyze turnover trends to identify and implement retention strategies.
  • Support compensation initiatives, including market analysis and planning.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, and help leaders understand and apply policies in a consistent, people-centered manner.
  • Assist with policy development, communication, implementation, and enforcement.
  • Identifying staffing needs and developing action plans to support those needs.
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to turnover, absenteeism, staffing, engagement, training, and workforce demographics.
  • Utilize data and trends to develop recommendations that improve workforce effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Leaves & Accommodations team to manage FMLA, ADA, and other leave-of-absence cases.
  • Assist in developing and implementing training programs, organizing company functions, and community relations activities.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, performance management, and recruiting
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday, UKG Workforce Management
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or other operational environments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or related HR certification
  • Experience sourcing and recruiting skilled trades and production roles
  • Experience preparing and analyze reports related to HR metrics
  • Experience championing a positive safety culture in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives

Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is Hiring Pay Range: $55,000 USD - $88,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
