Our commitment to quality, independence of thought and innovation helps us play a key role in shaping the future of audit.\nThe Insurance team\nOur Insurance audit team has a deep knowledge of the insurance sector and provides some of the largest insurers in the UK with high-quality, technically complex, statutory and regulatory audit and assurance services. We work with a diverse range of businesses across the insurance market, including life insurers, general insurers, Lloyd’s syndicates, international insurance brokers, other regulated businesses and many more.\nAbout the role\nWe are looking for a motivated Assistant Manager to join our Insurance audit team. Working alongside experienced insurance specialists, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality audits and supporting the development of our practice.\nAs an Audit Assistant Manager (SN2), you will take the lead on multiple audit engagements from planning through to completion. You’ll supervise and coach junior staff, manage client communications, and ensure the delivery of exceptional, timely audit services.\nResponsibilities\nAudit delivery - Manage insurance audits supporting the process from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.\nPlanning and organisation - Assist in developing audit strategies and scoping plans, ensuring resources and timelines are effectively managed.\nTechnical application - Apply up-to-date technical knowledge (UK GAAP / FRS 102, IFRS, Companies Act) to audit assignments, escalating complex matters to senior colleagues as required.\nReview and reporting - Draft sections of key reporting outputs such as long-form audit reports, group reporting packs, and audit committee communications for review by Managers and Partners.\nTeam support - Lead and supervise audit assistants and seniors during fieldwork, allocating tasks, reviewing work, and providing constructive on-the-job feedback.\nCoaching and development - Support the growth of junior team members by providing guidance, feedback, and informal training.\nQuality and compliance - Ensure audit files are completed to the required standard, review points are addressed, and firmwide methodologies and regulatory requirements are followed.\nClient relationships - Act as a day-to-day contact for clients, responding promptly to requests and building professional, trusted relationships.\nCommercial awareness - Monitor time spent against budget, assist with billing in line with agreed plans, and identify opportunities to add value.\nCollaboration - Work closely with colleagues across audit and other service lines, contributing to business development and firmwide initiatives.\nWhat we are looking for\nThe successful candidate will be proactive, collaborative and commercially aware, with a genuine interest in the insurance sector. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic and expanding team, working with market-leading clients while developing your technical, leadership and industry expertise.\nQualification - ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent).\nInsurance sector experience - Experience in external insurance audit and assurance engagements.\nLevel of responsibility - Experience in leading audit assignments from planning through to completion, with increasing responsibility for managing client relationships.\nLeadership experience - Experience in supervising and coaching audit trainees and seniors, with the ability to delegate effectively and review work to a high standard.\nTechnical expertise - Up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP (including FRS 102 and FRS 103), IFRS, and the Companies Act.\nStakeholder engagement - Ability to build professional relationships with clients, act as a point of contact during audits, and handle queries promptly.\nPeople management - Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to junior team members, supporting both technical and personal development.\nCommunication skills - Strong written and verbal skills, with the confidence to explain technical matters clearly to clients and colleagues.\nTechnology skills - Proficient in audit software and Microsoft Office applications.\nProject ownership - Take responsibility for audit assignments, monitoring budgets and ensuring compliance with quality and risk management processes.\nInnovation and improvement - Willing to contribute to process improvements, adopting new methodologies and approaches to improve efficiency.\nAnalytical thinking - Able to identify potential issues, apply professional judgement, and provide practical solutions.\nKnowledge sharing - Share expertise and provide guidance to colleagues, contributing to a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.\nNetworking - Begin to build a network of client and professional contacts, supporting both personal development and firm growth.\nDiversity, Equity & Inclusion\nAt Forvis Mazars diversity, equity and inclusion are central to our values.
