Our teams combine innovative technology, deep data insights, and world-class content to deliver highly personalized, reliable, and scalable consumer experiences across web, mobile, and connected TV platforms.\nJob Description\nAs a Software Engineer in the Backend/API team, you will be responsible for building and operating scalable, resilient backend systems that power multiple consumer-facing platforms. You will work on high-throughput, low-latency services and APIs that are critical to core product experiences.\nThis role requires engineers who take end-to-end ownership - from understanding the problem and designing systems to implementing, deploying, and operating them in production. We are looking for strong backend engineers who can work independently, make sound technical decisions, and deliver reliable systems without the need for constant hand-holding.\nA Snapshot of Your Responsibilities\nDesign, build, and operate backend services and APIs that run at high scale with strict reliability and performance requirements.\nTake complete ownership of assigned problem areas, from requirements understanding and system design to production rollout and ongoing operations.\nPerform high-level and low-level system design, clearly articulating trade-offs and architectural decisions.\nWrite high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code across backend components.\nBuild and evolve distributed systems that are resilient, fault-tolerant, and observable in production.\nOptimize existing systems for performance, latency, scalability, and cost.\nApply strong problem-solving skills and data structures knowledge to design efficient, real-world solutions.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver backend capabilities that support evolving product needs.\nParticipate actively in code and design reviews, maintaining high engineering standards.\nContinuously improve system reliability, developer productivity, and engineering best practices within the team.\nWhat Will You Need\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.\n4-8 years of experience building backend software systems in production environments.\nStrong programming skills in one or more backend languages, preferably Golang.\nSolid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and their application in backend and distributed systems.\nExperience designing and building distributed systems with a focus on scalability, availability, and reliability.\nHands-on experience working with cloud-based systems (e.g., AWS or equivalent).\nExperience working with databases and data stores (relational and/or NoSQL) and an understanding of data modeling and performance trade-offs.\nPractical understanding of modern AI systems, including large language models (LLMs), and how to integrate AI capabilities into backend software.\nFamiliarity with using AI to build, enhance, or operate software systems (e.g., LLM-based APIs, prompt-driven workflows, automation, developer productivity).\nAbility to work independently, take ownership, and deliver systems end-to-end with minimal guidance.\n#LI-SP1\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
