We look forward to hearing from you!\nPosition Summary:\nAssists shipping department, performing clerical duties involved in the shipping of materials.\nPosition Responsibilities:\n Designates method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. \n Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. \n Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment. \n Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers. \n Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding. \n Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine. \n Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers. \n Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage. \n Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. \n Routes items to departments. \n Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. \n Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. \n May keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. \n May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. \n May direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments. \nSpecific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:\nProficiency in MS Office applications, strong Excel knowledge \nEffective time management and organizational skills.\nDetail oriented and capable of multi-tasking.\nAble to work alone or with others to complete tasks.\nAble to read/write English\nPosition Qualifications:\nEducation:\nHS graduate or equivalent\nExperience:\nNo experience required, but 1+ years of experience record keeping and/or using internal computer systems to access and document shipping or receiving records preferred. \nWork Environment and Physical Requirements:\nManufacturing Environment\nLift up to 50 lbs. regularly\nRequires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of time\nVision abilities required to validate and enter data on computer\nDisclaimer: This list does not represent all physical demands.
