This role ensures that all mechanical and thermal infrastructure is installed, tested, integrated, and handed over in full compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and operational objectives, supporting high-availability and energy-efficient operations.\nThe responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:\nCommissioning Management\nLead and manage the end-to-end commissioning process for mechanical systems, from pre-functional testing through integrated systems testing (IST) and final handover.\n\nEnsure commissioning activities are executed in accordance with approved commissioning plans, project schedules and quality standards.\n\nCoordinate phased and systems-based commissioning strategies typical of hyperscale delivery model\n\nMechanical Systems Testing & Validation\nCommission and validate critical mechanical infrastructure, including but not limited to:\nChilled water systems (chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers)\n\nAirside systems (CRAC/PAHUs, AHUs, FWUs)\n\nDirect-to-chip, liquid cooling, or hybrid cooling systems (where applicable)\n\nHVAC distribution systems (ductwork, piping, valves, dampers)\n\nFuel oil and lube oil systems supporting standby generation\n\nMake-up water, water treatment, and blowdown systems\n\nVerify system performance under normal, abnormal, and failure conditions.\n\nValidate thermal performance, capacity, control response, and efficiency against design intent and client requirements.\n\nProject Coordination & Oversight\nPlan, coordinate and lead mechanical commissioning activities in collaboration with design engineers, construction teams, vendors, controls specialists and operations stakeholders.\n\nAct as the primary technical authority for mechanical commissioning issues on site.\n\nSupport construction readiness, system turnover and commissioning sequencing in fast-track hyperscale environments.\n\nMechanical & Controls Integration\nEnsure seamless integration of mechanical systems with:\nElectrical power systems\n\nControls, BMS, and EPMS\n\nFire/life safety systems\n\nIT load and white-space requirements\n\nValidate system redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), fault tolerance, and maintainability to support mission-critical operations.\n\nLead functional performance testing and integrated systems testing involving mechanical failure scenarios.\n\nDocumentation & Reporting\nDevelop and manage commissioning documentation, including:\nCommissioning plans and schedules\n\nMechanical test procedures and functional performance scripts\n\nMethod statements and risk assessments\n\nFinal commissioning reports, as-built records and handover documentation\n\nProvide clear, accurate progress, risk and readiness reports to project and client stakeholders.\n\nStandards & Compliance\nEnsure all mechanical systems and commissioning activities comply with applicable codes, standards and best practices, including:\nASHRAE (including TC 9.9)\n\nCIBSE, SMACNA, IPC\n\nIEC, ISO, and local authority requirements\n\nUptime Institute Tier Standards\n\nTIA-942 and client-specific hyperscale standards\n\nSupport third-party audits, peer reviews and certifications where required.\n\nFactory & Site Acceptance Testing (FAT & SAT)\nPlan, coordinate and lead FAT and SAT activities for mechanical equipment and packaged systems.\n\nReview vendor submittals, test data and corrective actions to ensure equipment readiness for site installation and integration.\n\nWitness performance testing of major plant (chillers, PAHUs, cooling towers, packaged plant).\n\nRisk Management & Troubleshooting\nIdentify technical, schedule, operational and safety risks related to mechanical commissioning.\n\nImplement mitigation strategies and lead root-cause analysis and troubleshooting to resolve issues efficiently.\n\nSupport rapid issue resolution in live or partially energized data hall environments.\n\nHealth, Safety & Environmental Compliance\nDemonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical and process safety, particularly when working with:\nPressurized systems\n\nRotating equipment\n\nChemical treatment systems\n\nLive data center environments\n\nEnsure all commissioning activities comply with health and safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, confined space requirements and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.\n\nPromote and enforce a strong safety culture across all commissioning activities.\n\nLeadership & Team Development\nLead and support contractors, and subcontractors.\n\nProvide technical guidance, training and oversight to ensure consistent commissioning quality and hyperscale delivery standards.\n\nInterface effectively with client operations teams to ensure a smooth transition to steady-state operations.\n\nContinuous Improvement\nAdhere to company policies, procedures and quality management systems.\n\nCapture lessons learned and promote continuous improvement in commissioning methodologies, energy performance and reliability outcomes across hyperscale data center projects.\n\n The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in mechanical commissioning within mission-critical environments, combined with strong leadership, analytical capability, and a disciplined approach to safety, quality, and compliance.\nTechnical Experience & Expertise\nProven track record in commissioning critical mechanical systems within data centers or other mission-critical facilities, including:\nChilled water plants (chillers, primary/secondary pumps, heat exchangers)\n\nCooling towers and adiabatic systems\n\nCRAH / CRAC units, PAHUs, FWUs\n\nAir distribution systems (ductwork, dampers, VAVs)\n\nHydronic distribution systems (piping, valves, strainers, balancing devices)\n\nFuel oil and lube oil systems supporting standby generators\n\nMake-up water, water treatment and water reuse systems\n\nStrong understanding of data center cooling architectures, including:\nAir-cooled and water-cooled systems\n\nN, N+1, and 2N redundancy concepts\n\nContainment strategies (hot aisle / cold aisle)\n\nLiquid cooling and hybrid cooling systems (desirable)\n\nDemonstrated experience validating mechanical system performance under normal, abnormal, and failure scenarios, including loss-of-power and failover events.\n\nSolid knowledge of controls and automation systems, including:\nBMS\n\nPlant controls and sequencing\n\nIntegration with EPMS and IT load signals\n\nProven experience developing Functional Performance Test (FPT) and Integrated Systems Test (IST) scripts and leading on-site teams to successfully execute tests in live data center environments.\n\nWorking knowledge of commissioning Life Safety and critical interfaces, including:\nFire alarm system interfaces with HVAC\n\nSmoke control and purge systems\n\nEmergency shutdown and equipment interlocks\n\nDemonstrated ability to review mechanical designs, calculations and specifications from a commissionability, operability, and maintainability perspective.\n\nTools, Software & Digital Competence\nProficiency with mechanical and building services design tools such as AutoCAD (MEP coordination experience preferred).\n\nFamiliarity with BIM platforms (Revit, Navisworks) for coordination, clash detection and commissioning readiness.\n\nExperience using project management tools such as MS Project or equivalent.\n\nHands-on experience with commissioning and construction management platforms such as CxAlloy, Procore, Compass, or similar systems.\n\nWorking knowledge of data analytics, trend logs, and performance data for system validation and reporting.\n\nExposure to cloud-based client platforms (Google, Microsoft, Amazon) is advantageous.\n\nProject Delivery & Operational Experience\nDemonstrated experience managing mechanical commissioning activities across schedule and resource constraints.\n\nProven capability to conduct technical audits and operational readiness assessments of existing facilities, including:\nInstalled equipment verification\n\nSystem performance evaluation\n\nCompliance with design intent and operational standards\n\nExperience delivering projects across the full data center lifecycle-from design review and construction support through commissioning, integrated testing, and operational handover-is highly desirable.\n\nFamiliarity with hyperscale delivery models and phased handover strategies is an advantage.\n\nLeadership, Communication & Problem Solving\nStrong leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide multi-disciplinary teams, contractors and vendors.\n\nEffective communicator, capable of interfacing confidently with clients, operators, project stakeholders and technical teams.\n\nHighly developed analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify, assess and resolve complex mechanical and controls-related issues efficiently and safely.\n\nEssential Qualifications\nB.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. or equivalent).\n\n7+ years of hands-on experience in testing and commissioning of mechanical systems in mission-critical or large-scale commercial facilities.\n\nMinimum 5 years of commissioning experience within the data center industry, including demonstrable leadership of Integrated Systems Testing (IST).\n\nStrong working knowledge of relevant standards, including ASHRAE (TC 9.9), CIBSE, SMACNA, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, and
