These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.\nOur Culture:\nWe embrace a culture of learning, collaboration, innovation, and well-being, where open communication drives our impact.\nAbout The Role:\nBureau of Epidemiology Services is seeking a Qualitative Research Manager to collaborate with NYC researchers focused on gender affirming care and the health of TGNCNB and LGBTQIA+ communities. The role will focus on developing qualitative research plans, protocols, and instruments while overseeing high quality, in-house qualitative research activities. The role will also supervise the Qualitative Research Analyst.\nAbout the Program:\nThe Bureau of Epidemiology Services (BES) collects, analyzes and communicates data to monitor and improve the health of New Yorkers. BES provides statistical and analytic support for public health surveillance, epidemiologic research, and program evaluations at DOHMH. BES plays a pivotal role for initiating and performing inter and intra agency collaboration projects, including acquiring data, developing study designs and methodologies, analyzing data, and disseminating findings.\nResponsibilities:\nCollaborate on projects with NYC researchers who conduct qualitative or mixed-methods research on gender affirming care, and/or health/healthcare of TGNCNB, and LGBTQIA+ communities.\nIdentify areas for qualitative research support for NYC gender affirming care projects, and co-develop qualitative research plans, protocols, and instruments.\nSupervise qualitative data collection, conduct qualitative data analysis, and oversee coding, thematic development, and data synthesis.\nSupervise the Qualitative Research Analyst in data collection, processing and analysis activities. \nDraft summaries of qualitative findings and contribute to qualitative components of mixed-methods research reports, including gender affirming care and/or TGNCNB-specific research findings.\nIdentify qualitative infrastructure needs to support management and integration of gender affirming care research activities and findings in NYC.\nRequirements:\nMaster’s or doctoral degree in qualitative research, sociology, anthropology, or related field, or bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of research experiences.\n5+ years of qualitative research experience, including data collection, coding, and analysis.\nExperience supervising analysts or research teams.\nAbility to translate qualitative findings into policy-relevant narratives.\nStrong organizational and writing skills.\nEmployment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check\nBenefits:\nPublic Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible employer\nGenerous Paid Time Off (PTO) policy\nMedical, dental, and life insurance with low or no employee contribution\nA retirement savings plan with generous employer contribution\nFlexible spending medical and commuter benefits plan\nMeaningful work at an organization striving to advance health equity and social justice\nEqual Employment Opportunity Statement:\nFPHNY is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
