This role is suited for an engineer with a strong builder mindset who enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems and creating scalable, reliable and automated platforms.\nWhat You'll Do\nDesign, build and maintain highly available, scalable and secure infrastructure on AWS.\nBuild automation to reduce manual operational effort and improve engineering productivity.\nDesign, develop and manage robust CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.\nDrive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation-first engineering practices.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues across AWS infrastructure, Linux, networking, applications and deployment pipelines.\nParticipate in production support and on-call activities, taking end-to-end ownership of incidents and root-cause analysis.\nPartner closely with software engineering teams to design and enable cloud-native solutions.\nContinuously improve platform reliability, scalability, security, performance and developer experience.\nBuild reusable automation and self-service capabilities for engineering teams.\nEvaluate AI-powered engineering solutions that can improve operational efficiency and developer productivity.\nCreate and maintain architecture documentation, operational runbooks and engineering best practices.\nWhat We're Looking For\n8-12 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, AWS Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, SRE or similar engineering roles.\nStrong hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS).\nExperience with AWS services and capabilities such as: EC2 EBS S3 VPC and VPC Endpoints Transit Gateway Security Groups and NACLs AWS CodePipeline AWS CodeBuild\nStrong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, including process management, memory, file systems, system performance and shell scripting.\nSolid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, routing, load balancing, firewalls and VPN concepts.\nStrong scripting or programming skills in at least one of Python, Go, Java or Bash.\nHands-on experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines and a good understanding of modern software delivery practices.\nExperience with GitHub Actions for build and deployment automation.\nStrong production troubleshooting, debugging and root-cause analysis capabilities.\nExperience building reusable automation or self-service tooling.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.\nGood to Have\nHands-on experience with Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation.\nExperience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.\nExperience with monitoring and observability platforms such as AWS CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus or Datadog.\nExperience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.\nUnderstanding of AWS cloud security and infrastructure security best practices.\nAWS certification(s).\nWhat Will Make You Successful in This Role\nYou are someone who:\nThinks automation first and looks for opportunities to engineer manual work out of the system.\nHas a strong builder mindset and enjoys solving difficult infrastructure problems.\nTakes ownership of production systems rather than simply operating them.\nHas strong debugging instincts and enjoys getting to the root cause of complex problems.\nBalances reliability, scalability, security and developer experience.\nIs curious about emerging engineering technologies, including AI-assisted engineering tools.\nContinuously learns and helps raise the engineering standards of the wider team.\nWhy Fractal?\nAt Fractal, you'll have the opportunity to work at the intersection of AI, cloud and modern engineering, solving challenging problems at scale alongside multidisciplinary engineering and technology teams.\nIf you enjoy building rather than just maintaining, automating rather than manually operating and solving complex cloud infrastructure problems, we'd love to hear from you.\nIf you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!\nNot the right fit?
