Position may be located in Lynchburg, VA, or worked remotely (depending on the experience level of the applicant). This position will be involved in the PWROG Procedures Subcommittee to maintain plant operating procedures and guidelines, as well as being involved in one or more projects involving next-generation Advanced Reactors, as well as installed-base nuclear power plants.\nPrimary responsibilities including, but are not limited to:\nPerforms a variety of the most complex engineering assignments in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.\nProvides assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.\nEnsures compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering standards.\nIndependently evaluates, selects, and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.\nDevelops new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models to provide added value solutions to customers.\nResearches and assesses best practices, proposing methods, and improvements.\nWorks on special projects, as directed.\nWhat You’ll Do Day-To-Day\nPerforms a variety of more complex non-standard engineering and new-to-you assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems, and resolution of quality events. \nPerforms independent review of department work products, risk assessments, Apparent Cause Analyses, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis etc. \nProposes solutions and work scope to Supervisor, works autonomously on most assignments and solutions. \nEnsures compliance with government regulations, organization, industry and customer engineering standards. \nIndependently evaluates, selects and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making more complex adaptations and modifications for tasks not previously performed. \nDevelops new or adapted products, methods, systems or models to provide added value solutions to customers. \nUnderstands impact of work on other organizations internally and externally. \nWorks on special projects, as directed. \nProvides suggestions for improving processes and implementing process improvements. \nActively participates in technical communications with internal customers.\nWhat You'll Bring\nBachelor’s Degree in EngineeringDependent on the position, degrees in Physics, Engineering Technology and Engineering Science may also be accepted.\n\nMinimum of 5 years of related experience.\nAdvanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques and criteria. \nGood communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data. \nAbility to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment. \nAdvanced problem identification and problem resolution skills. \nDisplays leadership characteristics. \nExhibits questioning attitude and practices self-checking. \nAdvanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills.\nSenior Reactor Operator and/or Shift Technical Advisor Certification, with experience in multiple plant areas (Primary, Engineered Safeguards, BOP, Turbine Cycle).\nExperience with Babcock & Wilcox, Westinghouse, or CE Plant Operating Procedures, Emergency Operating Plant Procedures, and Severe Accident Management Guidelines.\nExperience with PWROG Procedures Subcommittee.\nFamiliarity with NRC regulatory requirements and guidance for the applications to construct and operate nuclear power plants (e.g., 10 CFR 50.55a, 10 CFR 50 Appendices A and B, NUREG-0800), familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code, and familiarity with configuration management of a system design.\nExperience with NRC Staff / ACRS (e.g., presentations to regulatory authorities).\nTotal Rewards Package\nTotal Rewards Package\nSalary: $116,000 - $129,000 per year, and may also include annual incentives and performance bonuses. The base salary range is a guideline.
