It is the combination of skills, process, practices, and tools that enhances our ability to deliver services at large scale with high velocity and reliability.\n\nYour Impact:\nTechnical Leadership\nLead database upgrade projects from analysis to implementation, owning and executing all activities involved for various RDBMS platforms (SAP ASE, Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2, MSSQL Server, AWS Aurora, etc.)\nBe able to provide subject matter expertise in AWS Aurora and at least two of the above technologies.\nContribute to technical decisions in collaboration with engineering teams, providing insights based on a deep understanding of the architecture and technologies involved.\nLead performance troubleshooting and tuning tasks.\nProvide technical leadership and strategic direction for database transformation initiatives from one platform to another.\nDocument standard operating procedures and platform level checklists for the team to follow and ensure compliance across the board.\nMentor junior team members and provide direction wherever necessary.\nIdentify areas for continuous improvement and automate tasks, wherever possible.\nAbility to multitask and provide DB SME support to a large group of developers and testers, sometimes in parallel.\nProvide troubleshooting support for application/database issues involving multiple technologies during development/testing and deployment phases and provide solutions.\nWork with TS counterparts and coordinate server/instance and database builds, database refreshes and security implementations.\nEmploy extensive professional experience and creativity to resolve sophisticated technical problems\nDocument lessons learned, help maintain knowledge database\nTechnology/Business Partnership\nCollaboratively work with all other IT Teams to identify “Win/Win” opportunities and improve efficiency\nChampioning and influencing technology decisions with business partners, IT management and Team members on matters concerning multiple sophisticated projects which requires the ability to negotiate while maintaining effective relationships\nChampion current trends in the industry partnering with Engineering and Architecture Services\nDriving technical solutions in alignment with architectural roadmaps\nEngage with Engineering and other technology partners in the project inception phase to understand environment complexities and define remediation strategy and test strategy\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred.\nProduction / Application DBA with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in database administration.\nProficient in multiple RDBMS platforms including SAP ASE (Sybase), Oracle, MSSQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2 and AWS Aurora.\nHands-on experience with AWS database services (Amazon RDS, Aurora, DMS, SCT).\nUnderstanding of AWS networking, security (IAM, VPC, Security Groups), and storage options.\n5 + years of experience in database version upgrades and cross-platform migrations.\nExperience migrating from on-prem databases to AWS Aurora\nProficient in different replication technologies/high availability solutions for databases.\nStrong UNIX knowledge and proficiency in shell scripts.\nWorking knowledge of PERL, Python and other similar scripting languages.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nGood understanding of hardware performance, memory and I/O.\nExperience with DBMS specific tools for query/explain plans, database advisors, query snapshots, ability to understand them and troubleshoot the problems.\nStrong understanding of database interfacing technologies such as ODBC, JDBC and DBMS Native clients.\nWorking knowledge of Snowflake and data pipelines is a plus.\nKeys to Success in this Role:\nGood interpersonal, communication, relationship building and team working skills\nProven ability to communicate optimally with various teams, both business and technical, to achieve goals.\nAbility to communicate clearly, efficiently, persuasively.\nMotivated to learn new technologies and identify process improvements and efficiencies.\nCurrent Freddie Mac employees please apply through the internal career site.\nWe consider all applicants for all positions without regard to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, physical and mental disability, pregnancy, ethnicity, genetic information or any other protected categories under applicable federal, state or local laws.
