The Free Churches Group is a UK ecumenical body based in London that brings together the Free Churches of England and Wales, such as Methodist, Baptist, United Reformed and Pentecostal churches, to coordinate shared work and representation. Its legal body is the Free Church Federal Council, a registered charity established in 1940, and it supports chaplaincy in prisons, hospitals and the armed forces, religious education through SACREs, and rural church networks. It is a small organisation with a moderator and a handful of staff; the job board attached to this record belongs to the outsourcing company Serco rather than to the group itself.

Location: Hybrid with regular travel to sites across Wales

Salary: £34,000-£36,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and company car

Schedule: Full time (37.5 hours per week).

What you’ll do as a Business Development Manager

  • Manage and develop a minimum of 10 key employer accounts within a specified sector, acting as the main point of contact and building trusted relationships
  • Promote Serco’s full employment, skills and training offer to grow existing accounts and position Serco as the partner of choice for new accounts, including pre- and post-employment support
  • Work closely with Resourcers, clearly communicating employer expectations to support effective screening and placements, ensuring roles are filled with suitable learners at pace
  • Track and report on key metrics including placements, satisfaction, sustainability and repeat usage, providing updates to the Strategic Account Manager and stakeholders
  • Use data insights to improve account management, employer engagement and service quality, sharing recommendations with the Strategic Account Manager.

Does this sound like you?

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent qualification or experience)
  • A sound understanding of the skills and employability sector, including current trends, challenges and opportunities
  • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders
  • A data driven mindset with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience developing strategies and translating them into actionable plans
  • Strong organisation and time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
