You will work closely with the Head of Development, taking ownership of technical projects, resolving complex issues, and improving platform performance. We are looking for a proactive, independent developer who thrives in a remote environment and knows how to use AI tools effectively while maintaining high code quality.

Duties / Task to perform

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance backend functionality for WordPress-based membership platforms using custom PHP and plugin development.
  • Build and customize applications within Invision Community (IPS), including backend logic, integrations, and database functionality.
  • Design, implement, and maintain API integrations connecting more than 30 third-party tools and services.
  • Write and optimize batch scripts for bulk operations, data processing, and system maintenance.
  • Create and improve automated workflows using no-code/low-code platforms such as Zapier, Make, and marketing automation tools.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backend bugs caused by plugin updates, vendor changes, and existing technical debt.
  • Maintain platform stability, security, and performance through proactive monitoring and optimization.
  • Work closely with the Head of Development to independently manage technical tasks and reduce operational workload.
  • Coordinate with support teams, external vendors, and infrastructure contacts to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
  • Manage priorities, organize development activities, and provide consistent progress updates without requiring constant supervision.
  • Leverage AI-powered coding assistants to accelerate development while reviewing, validating, and taking full responsibility for the resulting code.

Requirements

  • Senior-level experience in PHP development, with strong expertise in WordPress backend development and custom plugin creation.
  • Experience developing or customizing applications within Invision Community (IPS).
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL/MariaDB databases, including queries, data management, and optimization.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining custom API integrations between multiple platforms.
  • Ability to develop batch scripts for bulk processing, automated operations, and data-related tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with Git and version control best practices.
  • Familiarity with no-code/low-code automation platforms such as Zapier, Make, or ActiveCampaign.
  • AI/LLM proficiency is required: Ability to use AI assistants for prompting, coding, debugging, and productivity while independently reviewing and validating the output.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery for basic frontend integrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and proactively communicate progress in a remote, chat-based environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accountability, and attention to detail.
  • English proficiency: Minimum B2 level, with effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) and Memberium.
  • Familiarity with PHPUnit and automated testing.
  • Knowledge of SSH, Linux environments, and Apache/nginx server administration.
  • Experience integrating payment solutions through the Stripe API.
  • Familiarity with ClickUp or similar project management tools.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work environment.
  • Stable, long-term collaboration.
  • Clear scope of responsibilities and structured workflows.
  • Training and onboarding support.
  • Opportunity to work with international teams.
  • Exposure to modern tools and professional processes.
  • Supportive and collaborative work culture.
  • Opportunity for skill development and career growth.
