The ideal candidate is responsible for providing world-class Laboratory Equipment Lifecycle Management service and support, while contributing to efficient processes, procedures, and best practices. This person is responsible for all things related to ensure Laboratory Equipment Lifecycle Management processes (onboarding equipment, IQ, OQ, PQ, calibration, maintenance, pFMEA, decommission) are to adhere to regulatory requirements, on large, fully automated laboratory systems and testing platforms, utilized in our cancer diagnostic test(s). We are rapidly growing and defining the laboratory systems and processes, so the ideal candidate will be someone who has had experience, not only maintaining service processes, but also scaling them to meet our future needs. You are passionate about changing the world through a product that has the potential to better the standard of care for all current, future and potential cancer patients and you will have a significant impact on the continued growth of a high profile technology organization that is changing the landscape on early cancer detection.\nThis position will ultimately report to the Supervisor of Equipment, Service and Maintenance Engineering Operations. During initial onboarding, the role will report directly to the Manager, Automation Service Engineering.\nWhat you’ll do:\nSupport and perform fellow engineers with equipment installations, qualifications, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to ensure the highest level of instrument reliability and uptime.\nCoordinate and schedule unscheduled maintenance activities between internal and external customers.\nPerform routine and preventative maintenance activities, including post-PM procedures (instrument teaching, move tests, qualification work, and documentation), while ensuring maximum instrument uptime and compliance with Freenome’s Quality Management System (QMS).\nParticipate in on-call rotations, responding to P0-P1 issues and resolving real-time issues on critical and non-critical equipment in the clinical laboratory.\nSupport Equipment, Asset Management & Operations Support through the equipment lifecycle, including troubleshooting, calibration support, training, and laboratory equipment asset inventory management.\nCommunicate equipment status, maintenance activities, and updates with internal customers.\nContribute to the administration and maintenance of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).\nEnsure laboratory documentation is accurate, complete, and GMP-compliant throughout the equipment lifecycle.\nEffectively coordinate with third-party service providers and vendors.\nSupport, configure, and maintain the temperature monitoring system for cold storage units and laboratory environmental monitoring.\nManage 5S spare parts inventory to support laboratory operations and scalability.\nProvide equipment service and operational support during normal business hours and after hours, including weekends, as required.\nMust haves:\n\nB.S. degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.\nExperience and knowledge in providing laboratory equipment support for Clinical and R&D environments for Hamilton and Bravo Liquid Handlers, Illumina Sequencers, and various other ancillary laboratory instrumentation.\nAbility to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external colleagues and customers from diverse scientific, engineering, operational, and regulatory disciplines.\nExcellent communication skills to work with high dynamic cross functional teams.\nTeam player: strong communication, collaboration, active listening, and problem-solving skills.\nSchedule Flexibility - This position will initially start as a Monday - Friday role from 9am to 5pm. After onboarding and training, it will shift to one of the following shifts: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday - Friday, 10:30am-6:30pm, Tuesday - Saturday 9am 5pm. *Schedules subject to change, will give 4 weeks notice when doing so.\nNice to haves:\nProficient in providing service support for Hamilton and Bravo Robotic liquid handlers.\nExperience providing service support for various other laboratory instrumentation.\nFamiliarity with developing and executing training programs and providing knowledge-transfer to other engineers and lab personnel.\nExperience authoring and supporting laboratory equipment PM, IQ, OQ, PQ, repair, and other service related documentation.\nExperience working within a CLIA, CAP, PMA, and/or GDP, GMP highly regulated environment.\nExperience standardizing processes for scalability and sustainability.\nA problem solver with skills and knowledge to work hands on and lead by example.\nHands-on technical troubleshooting skills in high throughput, sample processing laboratories to support operations and scale activities.\nExperience utilizing 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.\nLiquid Handler programming experience is a plus.\nBenefits and additional information:\nThe US target range of ourbase salary ratefor new hires is $90,725 - $116,025. You will also be eligible to receive equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered.
