We are growing the team and you will help shape how it works.\nAs a Staff Engineer, you lead the architecture of complex initiatives across domains and connect Business, Operations and IT. You own two areas: the architecture of 2-3 product areas and at least one technical standard that every team uses.\nWhat will you do?\nBe the architecture partner for 2-3 product areas: lead their cross-domain initiatives end to end and decide where the logic and data live.\n\nSet boundaries between IT teams and product areas, so that every piece of logic and data has one clear owner.\n\nOwn a shared technical standard, such as event design on Kafka, API conventions or the service template, that teams adopt because it helps them.\n\nDecide architecture questions that cross team boundaries. Teams propose, you decide and explain why.\n\nAlign API and event contracts between teams: what is exchanged, who owns it and how it evolves.\n\nHelp split a shared legacy database into service-owned data with clear ownership.\n\nTurn business needs into technical options with clear trade-offs and judge features on return, complexity and running cost.\n\nPair with teams on complex integrations and prove approaches with spikes and reference implementations, so teams can handle the next one on their own.\n\nGrow architecture skills across teams through guilds, workshops and documentation.\n\nWork with the Cloud Platform and Security teams on service-to-service security, secrets and data handling.\n\nWhat do you bring to the table?\n7+ years in software engineering, with recent years hands-on in distributed and event-driven systems.\n\nExperience as the go-to technical person well beyond your own team.\n\nMicroservices, domain-driven design and database decoupling in practice.\n\nPractical Kafka knowledge: partitioning, delivery guarantees, schema registry, failure modes.\n\nYou care about the business and can explain a technical trade-off to a Product Manager.\n\nYou have grown other engineers beyond your own team through mentoring, pairing or guilds.\n\nAI is part of your daily work. You use it with a critical eye and support its adoption across the company.\n\nYou are pragmatic: you start from the problem, not the pattern, and you measure your success by what teams can do without you.\n\nSecurity-minded: OAuth2 and JWT flows, secret management, data classification.\n\nEnglish at C1 or higher.\n\nNice to have: background in fintech, trading or a regulated industry, and experience with our stack: PHP, Go, Java/Kotlin, Python, Kafka, Kubernetes and Google Cloud.\n\nWhy join the FTMO team?\nWe are a Czech fintech that, since 2015, has grown from an idea into a global project.\n\n300+ amazing teammates.
