As a Laboratory Software System Administrator, you'll play a vital role in supporting the laboratory operations that underpin Fugro's geotechnical projects across the globe.\nWorking at the heart of our laboratory environment, you'll be responsible for the systems that manage geotechnical testing data, sample tracking, reporting and operational workflows. Your work will directly support the delivery of Geo-data used in major offshore wind, energy transition, infrastructure and marine projects worldwide.\nThis is much more than a traditional IT support role. You'll work closely with laboratory teams, engineers, technical specialists and business stakeholders to ensure systems are optimised, reliable and fit for purpose. Whether you're enhancing workflows, improving data quality, supporting new functionality or troubleshooting critical issues, you'll have a direct impact on how efficiently our laboratories operate and how successfully projects are delivered.\nFor someone who enjoys technology, continuous improvement and working with highly skilled technical teams, this is an opportunity to become a subject matter expert in a business-critical environment while helping shape the future of our laboratory systems.\nYour Role and Responsibilities:\nAct as the primary administrator for laboratory and operational systems, ensuring they remain secure, reliable and available to users.\nSupport the systems used to manage geotechnical testing, sample tracking, laboratory workflows and project data.\nManage user access, permissions and system configurations in line with business and security requirements.\nMaintain effective system governance, change-control and configuration records, ensuring compliance with information-security, data-protection and laboratory quality requirements.\nInvestigate and resolve system issues, working closely with laboratory teams, engineers, software providers and IT colleagues.\nSupport system upgrades, enhancements and controlled releases, coordinating system testing and user acceptance testing, tracking defects and confirming that changes meet defined requirements.\nConfigure workflows, forms, reports and system settings to meet operational and laboratory requirements.\nMonitor data quality and system performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and user experience.\nSupport data migration, cleansing and validation activities, maintaining appropriate controls over system data, master data and test datasets.\nProduce and maintain system documentation, training materials and support guides.\nDeliver user training and provide ongoing support to laboratory and business users.\nCollaborate with stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into practical system improvements.\nThis is a full-time, site-based role at our Wallingford laboratory.\nWhat You’ll Need to Thrive in This Role:\n\nA degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant systems-administration experience.\nExperience administering or supporting business-critical applications, enterprise systems or laboratory management systems.\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.\nExperience managing user accounts, permissions and access controls.\nConfidence working with data, reporting tools, system configurations and software testing activities.\nExperience supporting the software-development lifecycle, including system configuration, testing, controlled releases and user acceptance activities.\nStrong attention to detail with a focus on data integrity, accuracy and quality.\nThe ability to build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nExcellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach to user support.\nExperience working with laboratory information management systems or other laboratory software platforms would be advantageous.\nKnowledge of ISO 17025 or comparable quality-controlled laboratory environments, together with experience of SaaS platforms, databases or application integrations, would also be beneficial.\nA proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimisation.\nThe ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.\nAbout Us\n\nWho we are \nDo you want to join our Geo-data revolution?
