Our experts deliver actionable insights that reduce uncertainty, optimize site selection, support infrastructure design, and minimize costly delays, helping clients build safer, more sustainable, and more successful projects\nThe Staff Geophysicist is responsible for collecting geophysical data and maintaining logging on client sites. This individual must have strong attention to detail and maintain effective work relations with those encountered including colleagues, clients, suppliers and other third parties.\nJob Responsibilities\nLead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.\n\nSupport the collection of high-quality geophysical data in accordance with project specifications and established procedures.\n\nConduct field surveys utilizing geophysical methods such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Electromagnetic (EM), Electrical Resistivity, Magnetics, and other applicable technologies.\n\nOperate geophysical instrumentation and associated data acquisition systems.\n\nAssist with project mobilization and demobilization activities.\n\nVerify data quality during field operations and identify potential issues requiring corrective action.\n\nEnsure accurate positioning, measurements, and survey documentation during field activities.\n\nPerform preliminary data reduction, quality control, and processing of geophysical datasets.\n\nReview collected data to identify inconsistencies, anomalies, or data quality concerns.\n\nSupport preparation of technical deliverables, maps, figures, and factual reports.\n\nMaintain organized project files, field records, and data archives.\n\nAssist senior geophysicists with data interpretation and project analyses.\n\nUtilize geophysical and geospatial software tools to support project execution.\n\nPerform routine inspection, testing, calibration, and maintenance of geophysical equipment.\n\nAssist in troubleshooting equipment and software issues encountered during field operations.\n\nMaintain equipment inventory and ensure instruments are prepared for deployment. Also, monitor equipment performance and communicate maintenance requirements.\n\nMaintain accurate field notes, survey logs, and project documentation.\n\nCollaborate with project managers, geophysicists, technicians, and other project team members. Assist in meeting project schedules, quality expectations, and operational objectives.\n\nRespond effectively to changing project requirements and field conditions.\n\nAbility to travel up to 80%.\n\nOther related duties as assigned.\n\nJob Requirements\nLegally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.\n\nPossess or be able to obtain valid passport, possible international and domestic travel/assignments may be required\n\nPossess a bachelor's degree in Geophysics, Geology and or Geosciences required.\n\nHave field experience in collecting data through various geophysical methods (GPR, EM methods, seismic, electrical resistivity, etc.)\n\nKnowledge of Windows operating system, including but not limited to Windows 7.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\nAt Fugro, our people are our number one priority and central to our purpose to create a safe and livable world.
