We are looking for a Supervising Engineering Geologist to join our Engineering Geology and Geohazards team, where you will play a key role in delivering innovative marine consulting projects across the energy, infrastructure and environmental sectors. Working alongside experts in geoscience, geotechnical engineering, GIS and dynamic modelling, you will help transform complex geological, geophysical and geotechnical data into meaningful solutions for our clients around the world.\nThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced geologist with a passion for understanding the ground conditions in the marine setting. You will lead geological desk studies, develop integrated ground models, contribute to geohazard assessments and manage projects from planning through to client delivery. In return, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive team that values technical excellence, continuous learning and professional growth, giving you the opportunity to deepen your expertise, build client relationships and make a real impact on projects that shape a safe and liveable world.\nYour role and responsibilities:\nIndependently deliver geological desk studies, including geological evolutionary models, soil province assessments and zonation studies.\nIntegrate geological, geophysical and geotechnical datasets to develop robust ground models.\nUndertake and plan sedimentological and geohazard core logging to support offshore site investigations.\nContribute to geohazard assessments and site appraisals through interpretation and analysis of geological data.\nConduct microscopy analysis of sand fractions and prepare petrological descriptions of thin sections.\nManage desk studies and integrated ground model projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling and resource coordination.\nAct as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining effective communication throughout project delivery.\nPrepare high quality technical reports, presentations and digital deliverables in line with Fugro standards.\nPresent technical findings and recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.\nCarry out quality checks on interpretation data packs, reports and project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.\nSupport the development and implementation of quality control processes and maintain accurate records.\nAct as a focal point for specific technical specialisms within engineering geology and geohazards.\nSupport and mentor team members through training, coaching and knowledge sharing.\nCollaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including Geoscience, GIS, Geotechnical Engineering and Dynamic Modelling.\nEnsure compliance with Fugro's Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (QHSSE) standards and procedures.\nSupport the safe and compliant operation of the Engineering Geology and Geohazards core logging facility.\nWhat you’ll need to thrive in this role:\nDegree in Geology, Geoscience or a related discipline.\nPostgraduate qualification in Geology, Engineering Geology or a Geohazards related subject is desirable.\nA good level of experience within a geology, geoscience or engineering geology environment.\nPrevious experience in engineering geology and/or geohazard assessment is preferred.\nStrong understanding of geological processes within marine environments.\nAbility to interpret geological, geophysical and geotechnical datasets and develop predictive ground models.\nKnowledge of marine sediment investigation techniques and their application.\nUnderstanding of the influence of geology on engineering design and infrastructure development.\nExperience using industry software such as ArcGIS, Leapfrog, IHS Kingdom or similar interpretation and modelling tools.\nAbility to produce accurate, high quality technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.\nExperience managing technical projects, including budgets, schedules and client communications.\nStrong quality control and quality assurance awareness, with excellent attention to detail.\nEffective communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to both colleagues and clients.\nProven ability to build positive working relationships within multidisciplinary teams.\nA proactive approach to mentoring, supporting and sharing knowledge with colleagues.\nCommitment to maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.\nActively working towards Chartered status with a recognised professional institution.\nProficiency in English, both written and verbal.\nBasic programming skills, such as Python or Excel macros, would be advantageous.\nA collaborative, organised and client focused approach, with the ability to work independently when required\nAbout Us\nWho we are\nDo you want to join our Geo-data revolution?
