The role focuses on defining long-term technical direction, ensuring architectural consistency across teams, and aligning system design with business and scalability goals. Strong experience in Java, Node.js, and modern cloud platforms-preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with working knowledge of AWS-is required.\nRoles and responsibilities\nOwn system-level and cross-cutting architectural decisions across multiple teams and services, including trade-off analysis, long-term scalability, and cost considerations.\n\nAct as the final technical authority for system design, non-functional requirements, and architectural standards.\n\nDrive architectural trade-offs by balancing scalability, reliability, security, cost, and delivery speed.\n\nEstablish and enforce architectural guardrails, patterns, and reference implementations across teams.\n\nWork with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.\n\nDesign cloud-native applications with a focus on scalability, fault-tolerance, and performance.\n\nLead architecture reviews, code quality checks, and performance analysis.\n\nEvaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and platforms based on project needs.\n\nEnsure best practices around security, monitoring, CI/CD, and DevOps are followed.\n\nCollaborate with product, QA, DevOps, and other cross-functional teams.\n\nRequirements\nMust have\n10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a formal Technical Architect / Solution Architect role, owning system design decisions end-to-end.\n\nProven experience in creating and reviewing HLD and LLD documents, with the ability to articulate complex systems clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nStrong architectural understanding of Java and Node.js ecosystems, with the ability to guide teams on framework and design choices. Hands-on coding as needed for critical paths and reviews.\n\nSolid experience designing and deploying applications on GCP (preferred) and/or AWS.\n\nDeep understanding of microservices architecture, API design (REST, GraphQL), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).\n\nFamiliarity with NoSQL and SQL databases. (Firestore, Datastore, and Cloud Spanner) is a plus.\n\nKnowledge of performance tuning, observability (logs, metrics, tracing), and security best practices.\n\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, etc.).\n\nGood to have\nExperience working in multi-cloud or cloud migration projects.\n\nExperience working in Agile/Scrum environments.\n\nExposure to frontend frameworks such as React,Next.js , Vue, or Angular is a plus.\n\nMandatory certifications (at least one):\nGCP Professional Cloud Architect or\n\nAWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)\n\nAbout us\nWe are a Portland-based SaaS product company on a mission to empower businesses to work from Anywhere.
