Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for a Laboratory Aggregates Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operation of our aggregates testing team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll keep workflow moving, support and develop technicians, and make sure testing is done safely, accurately, and on time.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you’ll lead the Aggregates Team while staying close to the work itself. You’ll help keep the lab running smoothly from sample receipt and work allocation through to final sign-off, while working closely with the wider laboratory team to share resources where they’re needed most.

This role is typically worked Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. As with most operational roles, some flexibility is needed from time to time, including occasional weekend or night work.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operation of the aggregates laboratory, making sure testing is completed safely, accurately, on time, and to the required standards.
  • Supervise, support, and develop Laboratory Technicians and Senior Laboratory Technicians, building capability and backing progression.
  • Manage sample flow from receiving and logging through to testing, reporting, and final sign-off, while keeping clients updated on delivery timeframes.
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory quality systems, ISO17025 requirements, IANZ accreditation standards, and Fulton Hogan safety and environmental expectations.
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Manager and other supervisors to plan resources, improve systems, and meet customer and business needs.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with

  • Solid laboratory experience in aggregates, materials testing, or a similar environment, with at least 3 years in a relevant lab setting.
  • Proven leadership capability, with the confidence to guide a team, give clear direction, and support people to grow.
  • Strong working knowledge of laboratory quality systems, test methods, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • A safety-first mindset, sound judgement, and the ability to stay calm, organised, and delivery-focused in a busy environment.
  • A relevant qualification in materials testing or similar, plus a solid understanding of material properties.

  • Parental leave top up payment with additional return to work support.
  • Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities.
  • Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.

Ko wai mātou | About us

At Fulton Hogan, Good Work is more than what we deliver. It’s how we show up, how we work together, and how we back each other to keep moving forward.
