We’re interested in people from high-complexity industrial and civil environments who are confident managing multidisciplinary systems.\nYou’ll be someone that is able tolead deliver mechanical engineering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Working closely with electrical and civil teams to deliver complex, integrated solutions. You will hold strong programme management, subcontractor coordination, procurement, cost control, commissioning, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead projects from design coordination through to handover.\nThis role could be suitable for a Senior Project Engineer that is ready to move towards Project Manager. You also might be someone with solid civil/structural experience but had prior mechanical exposure.\nCore Focus Areas:\nMechanical Delivery | Project Programming | Financial Control | Health & Safety Leadership | NZS3910\nIn addition to the above you will:\nLead end-to-end delivery of mechanical projects, guiding engineers and site teams through procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, commissioning, and closeout.\nManage programmes, sequencing, methodologies, and look-ahead schedules to keep work safe, efficient, and on track.\nOversee procurement planning, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities across assigned projects.\nKeep a clear grip on cost to complete, forecasting, and procurement planning, making smart decisions that protect value for money and keep projects moving.\nProvide clear project reporting, forecasting, and commercial oversight, using your working knowledge of NZS 3910 requirements and project communication processes.\nDrive practical solutions to technical and delivery issues, reducing disruption and keeping projects on track.\nLead quality assurance requirements, including QA documentation, ITPs, FAT/SAT, commissioning plans, and completion records.\nReview and approve vendor documentation, specifications, installation procedures, shop drawings, and project records.\nEnsure mechanical completion, as-built information, O&M manuals, and client handover documentation are accurate, complete, and aligned to requirements.\nDrive Fulton Hogan’s health and safety expectations, making sure all work is planned and delivered in line with legislation, internal procedures, and project-specific requirements.\nLead risk reviews, SWMS development, and site health and safety leadership activities to support compliance with relevant New Zealand standards, codes, and industry guidelines\nYour project scope exposure will include; water, wastewater, pumpstations, industrial, oil & gas, or process infrastructure OR transferable experience from comparable complex mechanical/operations environments.\nWe’re looking for someone with:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (Civil considered where strong mechanical exposure exists).\n Minimum 3+ years experience delivering across mechanical/civil projects\nProven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects or operational lines.\nExperience with project programming tools (e.g., MS Project, CCS preferrable).\nStrong understanding of NZS 3910 / NZS3916 processes: claims, variations, delays, formal notices.\nStrong financial acumen: cost tracking, forecasting, claims, variations.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong technical knowledge, commissioning and operational completion.\nDemonstrated commitment to leadership in Health & Safety.\n**Able to travel to Central Otago is required, subject to forward work\nGood Work equals Good Benefits\nCompany vehicle\nKiwiSaver employer contributions\nParental leave top-up payment with additional return to work support, family scholarships\nOngoing training and development, career growth and progression opportunities\nGreat discounts at a wide range of retailers + additional fuel discount card\nMedical insurance (an eligibility period applies)\nLife insurance \nAt Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us.\nKo wai mātou | About us\nAt Fulton Hogan, we’re here to do Good Work that matters.
