Our robots are deployed in over 40 countries and used in hundreds of scientific publications across many disciplines.\nWe’re now looking for a Research Program Manager to lead and grow our research and academic collaboration ecosystem. This is a hybrid, multi-discplinary, role that is best filled by a scientist with a passion for community building.\nAbout the Role\nAs Research Program Manager, you will play a central role in developing Furhat's research funding and our research collaboration ecosystem. You’ll manage ongoing research projects, drive new collaborations, grow our research funding, and act as the bridge between the scientific community and our internal teams.\nYour role combines strategic coordination, community building, and hands-on project management - ensuring that Furhat remains the global hub for social robotics research.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. EU & Funded Project Management\nManage active EU-funded projects (e.g. Horizon Europe, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, etc).\n\nCoordinate reporting, deliverables, and partner communication.\n\nOversee project budgets, timelines, and compliance with funding rules.\n\nRepresent Furhat in consortium meetings and reviews.\n\nPrepare and submit project reports, financial summaries, and audits.\n\nSupervise or co-supervise staff (PhD and Masters students).\n2. Research & Academic Collaboration\nDevelop and maintain relationships with academic labs and scientific institutions using Furhat.\n\nTrack and report research publications, thesis projects, and new use cases involving Furhat robots.\n\nIdentify and support promising research groups with technical and community assistance.\n\nSupervise and coordinate MSc thesis students and research interns hosted at Furhat.\n\nTranslate research insights into feedback for product and marketing teams.\n\n3. Funding & Proposal Development\nIdentify new funding opportunities aligned with Furhat’s roadmap.\n\nCoordinate with academic partners to co-author proposals.\n\nDraft technical, impact, and budget sections for new applications.\n\nBuild and maintain a funding calendar and knowledge base.\n\n4. Community & Events\nAct as “Customer Success Manager” for Furhat’s academic users - helping them succeed and share their work.\n\nOrganize and host Furhat-led research events:\nFurhat Conference (FurCon)\n\nWorkshops and special sessions at major conferences (HRI, IVA, RO-MAN, Interspeech, etc.)\n\nRepresent Furhat at academic and innovation events globally.\n\nMaintain a research community newsletter and engagement channels.\n\n5. Reporting, Insights & Communication\nCreate quarterly insights reports on global trends in social robotics and human-AI research.\n\nMaintain an internal research impact dashboard (labs, publications, geography, topics).\n\nContribute to blog posts, press releases, and internal communications highlighting Furhat’s academic footprint.\n\n Who You Are\nYou’re a connector between science, technology, and people. You love research, thrive in international collaborations, and have a sharp eye for both detail and strategy.\nQualifications\nPhD in robotics, AI, cognitive science, computer science, or related fields.\n\n3+ years of experience in research project coordination, preferably within EU-funded programs (can be during doing your PhD).\n\nPrior experience in academia or at a research-intensive company/startup.\nExperience with grant proposal preparation and academic consortium management.\n\nExperience setting up and supervising successful Master's student theses.\nStrong organizational and communication skills.\n\nExcellent English (written and spoken);
