Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy while safeguarding humankind. This is not a normal company. This is not a normal job. We are committed for the long term to win.\nABOUT THE ROLE\nWe're looking for robotics engineers to stand up and grow Fuse's robotic manufacturing capability from the ground up. You will design, build, program, and deploy robotic cells that handle the full lifecycle of our pulsed-power hardware, from individual components up to our complete Impedance-Matched Marx Generator (IMG) modules. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role: you'll select the robots, design the end-effectors and fixturing, write the control and vision software, integrate everything into a working line, and keep it running. You'll work shoulder to shoulder with our pulsed-power, mechanical, and electrical engineers to make our hardware manufacturable by robots.\nWHAT WE VALUE\nObsess about the details - sloppy work costs us later, so do it right the first time.\n\nCare - pick up the trash. Do things no one asks you to do. Go the extra mile because you care.\n\nAct with urgency - every hour matters more than it feels like it does.\n\nBe responsible for the outcome, not just the task; if it is not working, it remains your problem until it is fixed.\n\nAssume good intent - disagree openly, then commit fully once a call is made.\n\nCORE RESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign and deploy robotic capabilities to fabricate and assemble Fuse's core pulsed-power components, including FDGS (field-distortion gas switches), \"bricks\" (capacitor and switch assemblies), stages, full IMG modules, and transmission lines.\n\nBuild automated assembly, fastening, bonding, alignment, and handling processes for high-voltage, high-energy parts, including heavy and delicate components.\n\nDevelop robotic workflows for inspection, test, and preventive maintenance of fielded hardware, reducing manual intervention in high-voltage environments.\n\nDesign and fabricate custom end-effectors, grippers, tooling, and fixtures tailored to our components.\n\nIntegrate machine vision, force/torque sensing, and metrology for precise alignment, quality control, and error detection.\n\nProgram and integrate industrial and/or collaborative robots (arms, gantries, mobile platforms) with PLCs, motion controllers, and factory software.\n\nDefine the cell-level architecture, including safety systems, interlocks, material flow, and throughput, and contribute to the build-out from concept to a fully functioning production line.\n\nPartner with design engineers on Design for Automated Assembly, feeding manufacturability requirements back into component design.\n\nEstablish maintenance, calibration, spares, and documentation practices so the automation is reliable and serviceable.\n\nHelp onboard new team members as the robotics team grows.\n\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nDegree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Controls, or equivalent hands-on experience.\n\nHands-on experience deploying robotic automation in a manufacturing or assembly environment.\n\nStrong skills in robot programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots, or similar) and industrial controls (PLCs, motion control, I/O, safety systems).\n\nExperience designing end-effectors, fixtures, and tooling in CAD and seeing them through fabrication.\n\nWorking knowledge of machine vision and sensor integration for guidance and inspection.\n\nSoftware ability (e.g., Python, C++, and/or ROS) for control, vision, and system integration.\n\nSolid grasp of automation safety standards and safe design practice.\n\nA builder's mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, iterating fast, and owning a system end to end in a startup.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience automating the assembly of high-voltage, high-energy, or hazardous hardware, and familiarity with the associated safety requirements.\n\nBackground in pulsed power, Marx generators, capacitors, high-voltage systems, or fusion/plasma hardware.\n\nExperience with heavy-payload handling, precision alignment/metrology, or automated electrical/hi-pot testing.\n\nExperience with mobile robots or automated maintenance/inspection in field environments.\n\nExperience standing up a new automation function or production line.\n\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS\nBased in or willing to relocate to our San Leandro, CA facility; this role is fully onsite.\n\nComfortable working hands-on in a lab and production environment around high-voltage and high-energy equipment, following strict safety procedures.\n\nAbility to lift and maneuver equipment and tooling as needed during cell build-out and maintenance.\n\nOccasional travel to other Fuse locations.\n\nBENEFITS\nMedical, dental, and vision coverage.\n\nRelocation assistance for roles that require it.\n\nFlexible time off. Take what you need, no accrual tracking.\n\n2 weeks of paid time off built into the end of each year (subject to team and business needs).\n\nSupportive leave of absence policies.\n\nPaid leave for new parents.\n\nITAR REQUIREMENTS\nTo conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.\nEQUAL OPPORTUNITY\nFuse is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with Fuse is governed on the basis of merit, competence, and qualifications and will not be influenced by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, ancestry, immigration status, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability, or any other legally protected status.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5855,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Flexible time off","Relocation assistance"],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":true,"industries":["Nuclear Energy"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-16T23:57:49Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":33,"reasons":["conf:1","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-17T05:46:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":165000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/fuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/fuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-18T06:49:11Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"assistant_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1165,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-19T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":691631},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=691631"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Ffuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Ffuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Ffuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/fuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Ffuse-robotics-engineer-fuse-corp"}]}
