This position troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action. The process engineer also researches the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment. This position works in our Technical Services Department. Standard schedule is M-F 7:30 to 4, with flexibility based on business need\nEssential Functions\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nDevelop and apply process simulation models, including HYSYS or equivalent software, to evaluate process performance, troubleshoot operating issues, and support equipment design.\nEvaluate, troubleshoot, and improve process equipment, including homogenizers, rising film evaporators, adsorbers, distillation systems, condensers, mills, and solid material handling and conveying systems.\nApply fluid mechanics and rheology principles to troubleshoot the mixing, pumping, and transport of non-Newtonian fluids.\nEvaluate and improve slurry preparation, mixing, and transfer operations to maintain consistent composition and reliable processing.\nTroubleshoot and improve film and web handling operations, including tension control, alignment, and wrinkle prevention.\nApply knowledge of polymers and their processing behavior to improve product quality and process performance.\nDirectly support one or more process areas, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other engineering teams to ensure consistent product quality and process reliability.\nIdentify and implement process changes to improve safety, productivity, quality and waste reduction.\nParticipate in and/or lead PHA studies and investigate process and safety incidents.\nDevelop and/or update standard process conditions.\nMonitor product quality, process conditions, and process efficiencies utilizing statistical techniques. Issue reports including data analysis, financial impact and recommendations.\nTroubleshoot and investigate process upsets and product quality issues.\nDevelop and/or update operating procedures and conduct training.\nLead or support trials for new or modified products or processes. Issue written reports of trial results.\nSupport major capital projects and manage smaller capital projects within budget and on schedule ensuring standards of safety, regulatory compliance, operability and reliability are met.\nDevelop and implement MOCs for process changes; update documentation including P&IDs, PFDs and procedures.\nUse AutoCAD Plant 3D or equivalent design software to develop and maintain process equipment layouts, piping drawings, and supporting engineering documentation.\nIdentify, develop, and justify capital projects using technical evaluations, cost estimates, and expected operating benefits.\nAssist with project commissioning.\nLead and participate in PSSR reviews.\nSpecify and size process equipment and piping.\nAssist in developing equipment and piping standards.\nDevelop and maintain technical expertise in assigned process areas, share knowledge, and serve as a resource for plant teams and external partners.\nFollow applicable environmental and safety requirements and company procedures in all engineering and operational activities.\nRequired Education and Experience\n· B.S. in Chemical Engineering.\n· 1-4 years of process engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.\n· Experience troubleshooting process upsets and analyzing process information using statistical methods. Six Sigma certification and Minitab proficiency desired.\n· Demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to promote safe work practices.\nAdditional Eligibility Qualifications\n· Experience managing small to medium capital projects from conception through completion.\n· Knowledge and experience in OSHA PSM preferred.\n· Experience with SAP software preferred.\nFutamura is committed to its employees and their families by offering one of the most competitive benefits packages in the market.
