Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.\nAs part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research - designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.\nTake the next step in your career.\nThe role\nThe Core Infrastructure Engineering team owns and operates the foundational services that G-Research engineers rely on every day, from infrastructure automation and CI tooling to the platforms that keep the business running.\nAs the Infrastructure Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of infrastructure engineers, setting technical direction while ensuring the delivery of reliable, well-automated services. This is a leadership-first role with meaningful technical involvement. You will stay close to the technology to guide architectural decisions and unblock your team, while focusing most of your time on leadership, delivery and stakeholder engagement.\nYou will bring experience leading infrastructure or platform teams, a strong understanding of the services within your team's portfolio and a passion for developing engineers while driving operational excellence.\nKey responsibilities of the role include:\nLeading, developing and growing a team of infrastructure engineers\nSetting technical direction and priorities across the team's service portfolio, including TFE, Active Directory, Jenkins, inventory tooling and Bastion Hosts\nDriving infrastructure as code adoption and the evolution of AI-driven infrastructure management\nEnsuring the availability, performance and operational health of core services\nActing as the escalation point for critical incidents and service issues\nBalancing operational delivery with long-term improvements and automation initiatives\nHiring, onboarding and developing new team members\nRepresenting the team's roadmap and capabilities to stakeholders across the business\nRemoving blockers, managing dependencies and enabling effective delivery\nWorking with stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable automation solutions\nImproving engineering processes, documentation and standards across the team\nWho are we looking for?\nThe ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:\nProven experience managing infrastructure or platform engineering teams\nStrong technical background in Windows and Linux infrastructure\nUnderstanding of CI platforms, infrastructure as code and infrastructure automation\nAbility to balance people management, technical decisions and stakeholder communication\nExperience improving operational processes, including incident management, change control and on-call practices\nTrack record of coaching and developing engineers\nClear, pragmatic communication style with ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences\nDesirable experience:\nExperience with inventory or CMDB platforms, Terraform Enterprise, vendor management or service management frameworks\nWhy join us?\nHighly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus\nLunch provided via Just Eat for Business and dedicated barista bar\n30 days’ annual leave\n9% company pension contributions\nInformal dress code and excellent work-life balance\nComprehensive healthcare and life assurance\nCycle-to-work scheme\nMonthly company events\nG-Research is committed to cultivating and preserving an inclusive work environment.
