You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and security specialists to deliver production-quality systems, contributing to the design, development, and continuous improvement of SAE’s platform and tooling ecosystem.\nSAE is a high-performing team of security professionals turned engineers. As part of this team, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute directly to G-Research’s defensive capabilities - developing tools and automation that help detect, respond to, and contain cyber threats at scale.\nThis is an opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and cyber security, helping to solve meaningful security challenges at scale in one of the world’s most advanced computing environments.\nKey responsibilities of the role include:\nDesign, build and maintain automated detection and response systems across G-Research’s hybrid environments (HPC, Azure, AWS).\nDevelop high-quality, well-tested code primarily in Python, following secure engineering best practices.\nImplement and maintain infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, ArgoCD).\nCollaborate with CSIRT and other security teams to integrate data and automation from tools such as Azure Defender XDR, AWS Security Hub, and Elastic Security.\nParticipate in code reviews, contributing to a culture of quality, maintainability and security.\nContribute to architectural discussions and design reviews, providing feedback and practical input on implementation approaches.\nMonitor system performance and reliability, identifying opportunities for operational improvement.\nWork with stakeholders to understand automation requirements and deliver robust, scalable solutions.\nContinuously improve development processes, documentation and engineering standards within the team.\nWho are we looking for?\nWe're looking for experience in the following areas:\nStrong Python development skills with an understanding of secure software engineering and automation in complex environments.\nPractical experience building and maintaining production systems in at least one major public cloud provider (AWS or Azure).\nFamiliarity with DevOps and infrastructure automation tooling (e.g. Jenkins, ArgoCD, Terraform, Ansible).\nExposure to security operations tooling such as SIEM/XDR/SOAR platforms (e.g. Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic Security, AWS Security Hub).\nExperience working in agile delivery teams and collaborating with diverse technical stakeholders.\nStrong problem-solving skills and a passion for building clean, maintainable, and scalable systems.\nA growth mindset and desire to continuously improve systems, processes, and personal skills\nWhy join us?\nHighly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus\nLunch provided via Just Eat for Business and dedicated barista bar\n35 days’ annual leave\n9% company pension contributions\nInformal dress code and excellent work-life balance\nComprehensive healthcare and life assurance\nCycle-to-work scheme\nMonthly company events\nG-Research is committed to cultivating and preserving an inclusive work environment.
