Job Title: Accountant

About Organisation:

G7 is a premier construction company in Kampala, Uganda, offering comprehensive pre-construction, construction, and post-construction services.

Job Summary: Manage day-to-day accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records and support timely reporting, statutory compliance and project cost monitoring.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate ledgers, review financial postings and prepare journals, reconciliations and monthly closing schedules.
• Verify payment requests and project accountabilities, ensuring complete documentation, correct project allocation and required approvals.
• Prepare client invoices, record receipts and reconcile debtor, creditor, bank and loan accounts, following up outstanding balances.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, project cost schedules and budget variance analysis to support management decisions.
• Prepare statutory returns for review, maintain tax records and support audits and year-end financial reporting.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules and support asset and inventory verification.
• Provide technical guidance to the Accounts Assistant and maintain effective accounting controls and organised records.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline with an accounting specialisation.
• At least three years of relevant accounting experience; construction or project accounting experience is an added advantage.
• Progress towards CPA or ACCA is desirable.
• Proficiency in Tally or a comparable accounting system and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation and financial reporting skills.
• Knowledge of applicable tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality and ability to meet deadlines.
