You’ll work alongside City staff, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other professionals to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved plans and specifications.\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, solving complex project challenges, and seeing projects move from concept to completion.\nWhat You'll Do\nAs a Construction Project Manager, you will:\nProvide oversight and project management for facility-related construction projects on behalf of the City.\nCoordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, City departments, and other project stakeholders.\nAssist with the selection and prequalification of architects, professional service providers, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.\nAssist with developing requests for proposals, requests for quotations, bid documents, and other procurement materials.\nReview design drawings for constructability, value engineering opportunities, change orders, and schedule impacts.\nDevelop and monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure projects remain aligned with established plans.\nEvaluate project progress and contractor performance, identifying potential issues that could affect scope, cost, quality, or schedule.\nRegularly visit construction sites to monitor progress and verify work is being performed in accordance with approved documents, permits, contracts, and specifications.\nIdentify and report potential cost and schedule impacts associated with RFIs, change orders, submittals, construction changes, and other project issues.\nReview contractor pay applications and provide recommendations for adjustments when necessary.\nMonitor contractor daily reports, workforce activity, and the quality of trade work.\nOversee the construction submittal process and coordinate with design professionals to minimize project delays.\nManage changes to the work and assist with conflict resolution during construction.\nAttend design and construction meetings and provide project updates and recommendations to City Management.\nReview contractor safety programs and promptly report injuries or activities that could adversely affect the project.\nCoordinate permit requirements and oversee construction documentation and revisions.\nAssist with value engineering, cost estimating, contractor bidding, bid analysis, and procurement recommendations.\nManage payment procedures for City design professionals, consultants, and contractors.\nAssist with sustainability initiatives, including “Green” or LEED programming assessments.\nLead project closeout and commissioning activities, including collection of warranties, guarantees, training materials, operations and maintenance manuals, signoffs, and other closeout documentation.\nEstablish and maintain organized project records throughout the construction process to support future operations, maintenance, warranty enforcement, and dispute resolution.\nPrepare reports, memoranda, presentations, and other documentation for City Management and Board meetings.\nRecommend improvements to project implementation processes and help facilitate timely decision-making to keep projects moving forward.\nWhy This Role Matters\nMunicipal construction projects are complex, highly collaborative, and often involve significant public investment.
