1,100 seats\nStudio Theatre - 400 seats\nConference Center\nRooftop Terrace Bar\nOutdoor City Green\nCityBar\nYou will coordinate the technical elements that bring performances and events to life - including lighting, audio, staging, rigging, projections, and scenic support - while also supervising staff, supporting clients, managing budgets, and helping ensure successful execution across all venues.\nThis position also serves as the Safety Warden for live events on the City Springs campus and plays a key role in strategic planning, operational support, and department-wide success.\nWhat you’ll do\nThe Technical Director will:\nLead and coordinate production operations for rental and presented events at City Springs\nAdvance all production-related aspects of performances and events\nOversee lighting, sound, projections, staging, rigging, fly systems, and scenic elements\nDevelop clean, professional floor plans, layouts, and light plots using CAD technology\nMeet with clients and prospects to assess technical needs and identify efficient event solutions\nManage production details, stage specifications, and technical logistics to ensure smooth event execution\nEnter and reconcile all production-related charges in Momentus booking software\nCreate and manage production budgets\nNegotiate and procure rental equipment and production services\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with production vendors and service providers\nHire, schedule, train, and supervise technical staff and stagehands, including coordination with IATSE crews when needed\nSupervise the AV Technician for the conference center\nMaintain production files and records for current and historical events\nParticipate in staff meetings and serve as a member of the management team\nServe as Manager on Duty for selected events\nHelp develop and implement production-related policies and procedures\nSupport a culture of professionalism, respect, safety, and customer service excellence\nWhat we’re looking for\nWe are looking for a proven production professional who combines technical expertise with leadership, customer service, and operational excellence.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent required\n Five (5) years of experience in a performing arts center environment\nExperience working with both IATSE and non-union crews\nAny equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities\nMust possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Theatrical Production or a related field preferred\nWhat sets you apart\nThe ideal candidate is:\nA calm and confident leader under pressure\nExpertise in one or more of the following: stage rigging, sound reinforcement, and performance lighting\nExperience with CAD software, preferably Vectorworks\nA strong collaborator who works well with artists, clients, crews, vendors, and internal teams\nA detail-oriented planner who can balance logistics, budgets, staffing, and deadlines\nCommitted to delivering a high-quality production experience across every event space\nPerks & Benefits\nThe City of Sandy Springs offers a competitive benefits package designed to support you and your family:\nThree competitive medical plan options for you and your family, along with dental and vision coverage\n10 paid holidays per year, plus 1 floating holiday\nAccrued paid vacation and sick leave\nCity-paid life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability\nA City-paid Employee Assistance Program (EAP)\nA robust retirement savings program: the City contributes 12% of your base salary to a 401(a) plan and matches up to 5% of your contributions to a 457(b) plan\nTuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year after one year of service toward a relevant degree\nIdentity Theft Insurance\nAccess to an on-site gym\nFirstNet (AT&T) phone discount\nJoin the team behind the experience\nAt the City of Sandy Springs, we are proud to create exceptional cultural, civic, and community experiences.
