The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their college education and related work experience to develop professionally into a well-rounded engineer with the ability to grow in today's global environment.\nThis is a temporary position working a full-time 40 hour/week schedule for an approximate 3-month duration. Modified schedules may be considered. The successful candidate must be eligible to work from one of the GAI offices listed. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their related experience to develop professionally and grow in today's global environment.\nJob Duties:\nAssist in structural design projects for transportation and transit clients.\nAssist in highway, drainage, and traffic design and calculations for transportation and transit projects. \nParticipates in technical report writing, quantity and cost estimate development, preparation of specifications, and development of structural drawings. \nField work may include bridge inspection, working at height, photography and field sketches, field documentation, and report preparation. \nPrepare plans utilizing Bently Microstation or AutoDesk Civil 3D. \nAs an Engineering Intern, this position is responsible for assisting a team of engineers and project managers with transportation and transit designs. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills.\nExperience:\nThis is an entry-level position with no experience required.\nThe successful candidate must be enrolled in a civil or structural engineering program at a Junior or Senior level in an accredited college/university.\nEducation and Training:\nEnrolled in a Bachelor’s degree Engineering program within an accredited college or university.\nMust have good skills in Microsoft Word and Excel\nExperience with drafting programs, particularly Bently Microstation and AutoCAD is preferred.\nWillingness to learn new programs and skills in concrete and steel design.\nCommunication Skills:\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret specifications, technical reports and procedures, and governmental regulations.\nAbility to write reports and other business correspondence.\nAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from other staff members.\nMathematical Skills:\nRequired mathematical skills are commensurate with the technical or engineering discipline practiced (e.g., engineering calculations, design, etc.)\nComputer Skills:\nDemonstrate in-depth understanding of basic computer systems and software packages.
