Participates in the GRU Line Technician Progression-Through-Training Program. This position works under supervision, developing technical proficiency, safety awareness, and system knowledge. Duties are performed under direct supervision until proficiency in assigned tasks and responsibilities is demonstrated.\nPositions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under limited direct observation and supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its increased technical responsibilities and ability to work under limited direct observation and supervision.\nMay estabilish an eligibility list.\nExamples of Work\nEssential Functions:\nUnder direct supervision, constructs, maintains, and repairs energized underground distribution systems rated at 600 V or less.\nUnder direct supervision, constructs, retires, operates, maintains, inspects, and repairs natural gas and LP service lines.\nUnder direct supervision, installs single-phase electric meters at customer locations.\nUnder direct supervision, performs and inspects fusion welds.\nUnder direct supervision, performs tapping procedures on pressurized natural gas and LP mains and service lines.\nUnder direct supervision, constructs, maintains, and repairs natural gas and LP distribution systems of all pressures up to 750 psi.\nUnder direct supervision, operates, maintains, and inspects construction equipment, including small and large trenchers, backhoes, and front-end loaders.\nUnder direct supervision, performs integrity management duties, such as gas leak surveys, valve maintenance, and maintenance of cathodic protection systems as required and in accordance with the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) guidelines\nUnder direct supervision, uses pipeline equipment and hand, pneumatic, and electric tools in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas transmission, distribution, and LP systems, as well as associated facilities.\nResponds to emergencies.\nNon-Essential Functions:\nRequired to respond in emergency conditions.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nExamples of Work (continued)\nEducation\nGraduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is required.
