As we move towards building a constellation of\nindigenous satellites, we are also developing advanced data platforms that fuse\nsatellite data, AI analytics, and geospatial intelligence.\nThe short version\nYou'll own features\nend to end - schema to screen. That means the data layer and APIs that turn\nmulti-sensor satellite data into usable intelligence, and the interfaces analysts actually use to explore it: maps,\nimagery, dashboards, and workflows. And you'll build a lot of it to run fully air-gapped and offline, deployed inside\ndefense and intelligence environments with no internet access.\nThis is a full stack\nrole. We care far more about how you think about data, failure, correctness,\nand the person on the other side of the screen than about which specific stack\nis on your résumé. If you're the kind of engineer who wants to know why something works - on both sides of the\nwire - and can pick up a new stack in weeks, you'll do well here.\nWhat makes this different\nMost full stack jobs\nlet you reach for a managed service when things get hard - a hosted database,\ncloud autoscaling, a CDN for your assets, Mapbox or Google Maps for your tiles,\nnpm install at deploy time, Stack Overflow open in the next tab. Here you often can't. Systems run on isolated,\non-prem hardware with no internet at runtime. That reshapes the whole stack:\nDependencies - frontend andbackend - are vendored and mirrored; builds are reproducible and\noffline-friendly. No CDN, no external fonts, no third-party script tags.\n\nMap tiles, basemaps, andimagery are served from local infrastructure, not a hosted provider. The\nUI has to render geospatial data with no internet behind it.\n\nThe frontend is offline-firstby necessity: it has to work fully within a closed network, degrade\nsensibly, and never assume a call to the outside world will succeed.\n\nDeployment and updates happenthrough controlled, secure processes - not push-to-cloud.\n\nDebugging happens withlimited tooling and no live lifeline; you reason from logs, the network\ntab, and first principles.\n\nIf that sounds like\na fun constraint rather than an annoyance, you'll fit well here.\nWhat you'll actually do\nBuild features end to end:model the data, design the API, and build the interface - owning the whole\nvertical slice rather than throwing work over a wall.\n\nDesign, build, and maintainclean, well-documented backend APIs - getting the contracts, error\nhandling, and versioning right so the frontend (and other teams) can rely\non them.\n\nOwn the data layer: schemadesign, queries, indexing, migrations, and consistency, including spatial\ndata and large raster/imagery datasets. Treat the database as something to\nbe protected, not just written to.\n\nBuild responsive, usablefrontends for analysts and operators - including geospatial views:\nrendering maps, tile layers, and imagery, and making dense data explorable\nrather than overwhelming.\n\nMake it all work air-gappedand offline: bundle and vendor dependencies on both ends, serve tiles and\nassets locally, and design for a closed network where you can't reach out\nfor help mid-run.\n\nDebug across the whole stackwith limited observability - from a slow query to a broken render -\nforming a hypothesis, isolating the variable, and fixing it right rather\nthan guessing.\n\nWhat you'll learn here\nBecause this matters\nas much as the work:\nHow to build full stacksystems under real constraints - offline, on-prem, security-first - a\nskill very few engineers ever develop.\n\nFrontend geospatialengineering the hard way: rendering and serving maps and imagery with no\nhosted provider to lean on.\n\nDeep ownership of dataintegrity: migrations, backups, constraints, and consistency in\nenvironments where mistakes are expensive.\n\nHow to stay sharp withoutmanaged services - reading source code and docs, and self-hosting what\nothers just call an API for.\n\nFull stack at the edge of ahard domain - satellite data platforms and geospatial intelligence -\nalongside [a strong engineering team / a lead who owns this].\n\nRequirements\nWhat we're looking for\nGenuinely required:\n3-4 years of full stack engineeringexperience - you've shipped both backend services and user-facing\ninterfaces to production.\n\nStrongfundamentals on both ends. On the backend you understand why, not just which framework\nmethod to call - transactions, indexing, idempotency, connection pooling.\nOn the frontend you understand how the browser actually works - rendering,\nstate, the network layer - not just one framework's happy path.\n\nStack-agnosticability - we're\nnot hiring for one language or framework. Your competence comes from\nunderstanding, so you can be productive in whatever stack the problem\ncalls for, on either side.\n\nA real sensefor UX - you\nbuild interfaces for the person using them, not just to satisfy the\nticket. You care whether dense, complex data is actually understandable on\nscreen.\n\nDefensive,failure-aware thinking - you instinctively ask \"what happens if this fails halfway,\ngets called twice, or the network drops?\" and design accordingly,\nfrom the API down to how the UI handles an error state.\n\nSystematicdebugging. When\nsomething breaks - anywhere in the stack - you form a hypothesis,\nreproduce it, and narrow it down; you don't try random fixes. Critical\nwhen you can't google your way out live.\n\nSelf-sufficiencyand resourcefulness - you can figure things out from source code, docs, and first principles\nrather than needing a live internet lifeline.\n\n Dependencydiscipline -\nyou're thoughtful about pulling in third-party libraries on both ends,\nknowing they may need to be vendored, audited, and left un-updated for\nlong stretches offline. (Frontend dependency trees can get heavy fast -\nyou keep that in check.)\n\nOwnership ofdata integrity -\nyou treat the database as sacred, and care about migrations, backups, and\nconsistency.\n\nComfort withconstraints and process - security discipline, careful data handling, and working within\nan air-gapped environment are part of the job, not obstacles to route\naround.\n\nBonus (nice to have)\nAny of these are a\nplus - we don't expect all or even most:\nExperience withgeospatial/mapping frontends (e.g. Leaflet, OpenLayers, MapLibre, deck.gl)\nand self-hosted tile serving.\n\nExperience with air-gapped,on-prem, embedded, or high-security deployments; reproducible builds;\noffline package mirroring.\n\nDepth in more than onelanguage or framework, on either side of the stack.\n\nExperience rendering orworking with large raster/imagery or spatial datasets.\n\nFamiliarity withcontainerization for isolated environments (Docker/K8s).\n\nExperience with datamigration, backup, and recovery in production.\n\nComfort reading an unfamiliarlibrary's source to understand it.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6909,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":3,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Space & Aerospace","Earth Observation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-03T17:02:56Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.897,"p_room":1,"age_days":4,"expected_fill_days":28,"reasons":["conf:1","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-08T05:49:30Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/galaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/galaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-09T01:16:44Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2020,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":2980,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-10T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":59381},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=59381"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/galaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-full-stack-engineer-on-prem-systems"}]}
