We are looking for a recent engineering graduate or a candidate with 1-2 years of relevant experience who is excited to work at the intersection of spacecraft systems, flight software and Mission Control software.\nYou will help connect the software used to operate the satellite on the ground with the flight software running onboard the spacecraft, making sure commands are correctly built, transmitted and interpreted, and that acknowledgements and telemetry are received and understood.\nWhat You’ll Work On\nBridge the gap between Mission Technology and spacecraft/flight software teams.\n\nUnderstand the flow of telecommands and telemetry from Mission Control to the ground station, satellite and subsystems, and back.\n\nWork with CCSDS packets and frames, command encoding and decoding, acknowledgements, CRCs and telemetry formats.\n\nUnderstand command and telemetry interfaces for EPS, ADCS, OBC/CDH, Payload, Communication and Thermal systems.\n\nTranslate spacecraft and mission requirements into clear software and interface requirements.\n\nWork with ICDs, command dictionaries, telemetry definitions and communication data flows.\n\nTest Mission Control-spacecraft interfaces using SIL, FlatSat, simulators and integration environments.\n\nDebug issues across software, communication protocols and spacecraft interfaces alongside multiple engineering teams.\n\nBonus Skills\nExposure to any of these will give you an edge: Python, C/C++, Linux, Git, TCP/IP, UDP, APIs, binary and hexadecimal data, packet parsing, embedded systems, software architecture, and SIL/HIL/FlatSat testing.\nWhy This Role Is Interesting\nYou’ll understand the entire operational chain of a satellite: how a command is created on Earth, reaches a spacecraft in orbit, gets executed by flight software, and comes back as telemetry. If you want to build a career around spacecraft systems, flight software, mission operations and satellite-ground integration, this role gives you exposure to all of them from day one.\nRequirements\nRecent graduate or engineer with 1-2 years of relevant experience in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Avionics, Electronics or a related field.\n\nBasic understanding of LEO satellites and spacecraft subsystems.\n\nInterest in satellite flight software, TT&C, Mission Control and Ground Segment systems.\n\nFamiliarity with CCSDS or spacecraft communication protocols is a plus.\n\nComfortable understanding technical interfaces, system architecture and data flows.\n\nStrong curiosity, problem-solving ability and communication skills.\n\nBenefits\nWork on real satellite missions - Help define and validate the commands, telemetry and software connections used to operate satellites in orbit.\nMeaningful ownership - Take responsibility for technical definitions, test cases and issue resolution that affect mission readiness.\nCareer growth - Develop toward greater technical ownership as the Mission Technology team grows.\nHands-on learning - Gain experience with CCSDS protocols, flight software, ground stations, FlatSat testing and mission workflows.\nCompetitive compensation - Salary aligned with your experience and responsibilities.\n Collaborative team - Work closely with spacecraft, flight software, ground software and mission operations engineers.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3472,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":1,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Satellite Manufacturing","Earth Observation"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-22T10:56:32Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":1,"expected_fill_days":18,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:early","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-24T06:02:35Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/galaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/galaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-24T12:02:40Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":17291,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-25T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":59381},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=59381"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/galaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fgalaxeye-space-mission-software-protocol-engineer"}]}
