This role is intended for an\nearly-career engineer with strong fundamentals, sound\nengineering curiosity, and the willingness to learn quickly in\na multidisciplinary hardware environment.\nThe position will\ninvolve close collaboration with optics, opto-mechanics,\ncamera electronics, firmware/FPGA, integration, and testing\nteams. The engineer will support the translation of mission\nand payload requirements into practical subsystem definitions,\ninterface understanding, design coordination, and verification activities.\nThis is a hands-on\nsystems role suited to someone who is eager to learn,\ncomfortable asking questions, and capable of independently\nworking through technical problems with guidance from senior engineers.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupport system and subsystem design activities for the MSI payloadacross optics, opto-mechanics, electronics, and interfaces.\n\nAssist in translating payload requirements into subsystem-level designinputs, interface definitions, and engineering documentation.\n\nWork with optics and opto-mechanical teams to understand alignment,packaging, structural interfaces, tolerances, and integration constraints.\n\nSupport coordination with electronics teams to understand detectorinterfaces, control electronics, signal paths, power architecture, and basic\nembedded hardware concepts.\n\nContribute to system budgets, trade studies, and engineering analysesrelated to performance, packaging, interfaces, and integration.\n\nAssist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation such asrequirements notes, interface descriptions, design summaries, review material,\nand test support documents.\n\nParticipate in subsystem integration, lab bring-up, troubleshooting, andvalidation activities.\n\nSupport engineering reviews, design discussions, and follow-up actionsacross multidisciplinary teams.\n\nHelp identify design issues, interface gaps, and integration risksearly, and escalate them appropriately.\n\nLearn to evaluate technical trade-offs across optics, mechanics,electronics, and system-level requirements under the guidance of senior\nengineers.\n\nRequirements\nMust Haves\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.\n0-2 years of relevant experience in hardware systems, opto-mechanical systems, electronics, or related engineering development work.\nBasic understanding of optics and opto-mechanical concepts, including structural packaging, mounting, alignment sensitivity, tolerances, and mechanical integration.\nBasic understanding of electronics fundamentals.\nInterest in multidisciplinary system development involving optics, mechanics, electronics, and integration.\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, interface descriptions, and technical documentation.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn by doing.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nTraits We Value\nSystemsthinker with strong analytical and debugging skills.\n\nInclusiveleader who can mentor a diverse, distributed team.
