Department Purchasing Agent

Department Overview

This Department Purchasing Agent will help coordinate and operate inventory management in the Home Infusion Pharmacy Services department including generating purchase orders, procurement of pharmaceuticals, equipment and supplies; maintaining regulatory record keeping and program requirements: inventory management- including 340B requirements and other federal and state programs, proper storage, security and distribution of products. In addition, this position will be responsible for tracking and maintaining infusion pump inventory.

Function/Duties of Position

• Purchasing of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy supplies; generating purchase orders while following buying guidelines, contract requirements and policies and procedures.

• Equipment management and tracking, including ensuring prompt return of equipment from patients at end of therapy. Collaborate with Clinical Technology Services for asset tag management, decommissioning equipment, equipment repair, equipment preventative maintenance, and other similar tasks or projects.

• Support inventory management within inventory system while supporting optimization of purchasing practice, monitoring and managing inventory levels.

• Assist with other pharmacy processes including but not limited to product returns, billing discrepancies, timely invoice processing, direct purchasing records, phone inquiries, borrow/loan, CSOS record keeping requirements, packaging, shipping, urgent deliveries, filing, etc.

• Collaborate with Pharmacy Services finance department with budgetary information; ensuring correct recording of purchasing and maintain open communication and reports that impact budget.

• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Two years of full-time purchasing experience which must include using purchasing practices, procedures, and techniques such as determining specifications, placing purchase orders and processing requisitions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Pharmacy Practice and USP 797 equipment needs
• Certified Pharmacy Technician

Additional Details

This position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition, within the health care setting there can be lack of control of the work pace, interruptions and external factors that will dictate work load and pace.
