You'll take ownership of technical initiatives, contribute to architectural decisions, mentor other engineers, and help deliver innovative solutions that make a difference for customers around the globe.\nAbout the Role\nAs part of an agile development squad, you'll lead the design, development and maintenance of embedded software features and products from concept through to delivery. You'll collaborate closely with hardware engineers, testers, project teams, and fellow developers to build high-quality, reliable solutions.\nKey responsibilities include:\nDesigning, developing and maintaining embedded software solutions\n\nCollaborating with hardware engineers on board bring-up, debugging and integration\n\nAnalysing system performance and driving technical improvements\n\nTaking ownership of assigned projects and leading them through to completion\n\nConducting code reviews and supporting engineering best practices\n\nInvestigating and resolving complex technical issues and defects\n\nMentoring and sharing knowledge with other developers\n\nContributing to continuous improvement across products, processes and development standards\n\nAbout You\nYou'll be a passionate software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and working in a collaborative product development environment. You're comfortable taking ownership, influencing technical direction and supporting the growth of those around you.\nWe're looking for someone who has:\nA relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience\n\nAt least five years' experience in commercial software development\n\nStrong experience with Embedded C/C++\n\nExperience working with Linux and/or Zephyr environments\n\nKnowledge of microprocessor architecture and digital electronics\n\nExperience with debugging, testing and software quality practices\n\nFamiliarity with version control systems and modern development tools\n\nExcellent problem-solving and communication skills\n\nExperience with FPGAs, VHDL, secure boot, embedded security concepts, open-source software, driver development or scripting languages such as Python and Bash would be highly regarded\nWhy Gallagher?\nGallagher is one of New Zealand's most respected technology companies, with a global reputation for innovation.
