Working in partnership with our clients, supply chain and stakeholders, we deliver innovative and sustainable solutions across the water and environmental sectors.\nPurpose of the Role\nWe are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Procurement team.\nIn this role, you will be responsible for the procurement of products, materials and subcontract services across projects and programmes of work. You will play a crucial role in supporting successful project delivery through the effective coordination of designers, clients, supply chain partners and internal delivery teams.\nWorking collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, you will help ensure the most cost-effective and efficient procurement solutions are secured while maintaining quality, compliance and programme requirements.\nKey Accountabilities\nAs a Buyer, you will:\nDevelop, agree and issue procurement plans for projects and programmes of work.\nCarry out supplier and subcontractor pre-qualification assessments.\nPrepare scopes of work for products, materials and subcontract services.\nPrepare and issue invitation to tender (ITT) documentation following receipt of authorised requisitions.\nUndertake commercial and technical bid evaluations to identify the most appropriate suppliers and subcontractors.\nCreate, approve and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements.\nManage and expedite the delivery of products and subcontract services to meet programme requirements.\nMonitor and report procurement performance against project budgets.\nSupport pre-construction teams through a structured procurement approach during bid stages.\nEnsure effective use of Galliford Try's supplier approval and performance management processes.\nManage and resolve supplier performance issues and commercial disputes.\nDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive value and cost efficiencies.\nIdentify, capture and share procurement best practice across the business.\nProvide guidance, mentoring and support to members of the wider procurement team.\nContribute to the successful delivery of goods, materials and services on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.\nAbout You\nWe are looking for a commercially minded procurement professional with strong supplier management and negotiation skills, who thrives in a collaborative project environment.\nEssential Skills & Competencies\nStrong commercial and contractual awareness.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong influencing, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.\nAbility to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.\nStrong leadership and people management skills.\nHigh levels of energy, enthusiasm and motivation.\nExcellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines.\nCollaborative approach with strong partnering credentials.\nResults-driven mindset with a focus on delivering value.\nTechnical Qualifications & Experience\nSignificant experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain management.\nStrong understanding of commercial law and contract conditions.\nExcellent commercial awareness and contractual experience.\nDegree qualified in a Procurement, Engineering, Technical or related discipline is desirable.\nRelevant professional qualification would be advantageous.\nFull Membership of CIPS (preferred).\nProficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.\nWhat We Can Offer in Return\nWith an impressive order book of over £4.3 billion, we are one of the industry's leading principal contractors, affording you the opportunity to work on some of the UK's most exciting projects offering you stability as well as the chance to stretch your capabilities and realise long held career goals.
