performance.\nPurpose of the Role\nWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our Environment Division Finance team.\nReporting to a Finance Manager and working as part of a finance team of approximately 17 colleagues, you will support up to two business units and provide financial information, analysis and insight to stakeholders across the wider Environment business.\nThis role is ideal for a qualified accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with operational teams and delivering accurate financial reporting that supports business decision-making.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nAs a Management Accountant, you will:\nPrepare and deliver month-end management accounts and reporting packs.\nSupport the production of weekly cash flow forecasts and monitor cash receipts.\nAnalyse financial performance and investigate variances against budgets and forecasts.\nAttend monthly review meetings with Finance Managers and support performance reporting.\nPrepare cost journals, accruals and general ledger adjustments.\nReview payroll allocations and cost-to-employ calculations.\nMonitor and report on cost recovery performance.\nPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting analysis.\nMaintain project information and financial data within company systems.\nReview VAT returns and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.\nRespond to finance queries from operational and commercial teams.\nSupport and supervise Finance Assistants where required.\nContribute to process improvements and financial control initiatives across the business.\nKey Responsibilities\nFinancial Reporting & Analysis\nProduce accurate and timely monthly management accounts.\nPrepare balance sheet packs and reconciliations.\nAnalyse financial results and identify trends, risks and opportunities.\nInvestigate and explain variances to support business decision-making.\nEnsure all period-end reporting deadlines are achieved.\nCash Flow & Controls\nPrepare weekly cash forecasts and monitor working capital performance.\nSupport accurate accruals, journal postings and ledger maintenance.\nMonitor cost recovery across projects and business units.\nSupport financial governance and compliance activities.\nBusiness Partnering\nBuild strong relationships with operational, commercial and project teams.\nProvide financial insight and support across assigned business units.\nAssist stakeholders in understanding financial performance and reporting requirements.\nRespond to day-to-day finance queries in a professional and timely manner.\nAbout You\nWe're looking for a proactive finance professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with excellent attention to detail and a collaborative approach.\nYou will be comfortable working to regular deadlines, analysing financial data and supporting stakeholders across different areas of the business.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nExperience working in a Management Accountant or similar finance role.\nStrong understanding of management accounting principles.\nExcellent organisational and time management skills.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving ability.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nHigh attention to detail and accuracy.\nProactive and adaptable approach to work.\nExperience supervising or supporting junior team members.\nStrong numerical and literacy skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet weekly and monthly deadlines.\nQualifications & Technical Knowledge\nQualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) or qualified through relevant experience.\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills.\nStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.\nExperience using Oracle, Sage 200 or similar financial systems is desirable but not essential.\nExperience of financial reporting, reconciliations and forecasting
