If speculative CVs are sent, no fee will be applicable - please direct all queries to the relevant Resourcing Partner.\nJob Title - Preconstruction Manager\nLocation - Gateshead\nWhat you will be doing:\nStrategy & Pipeline\nSupport the Pre-Construction Director in delivering the North East & Yorkshire work-winning strategy, including pipeline opportunity reviews and bid approvals.\nLead client engagement, building relationships and identifying customer drivers to improve Galliford Try's competitive position.\nBe accountable for the quality and competitiveness of tender submissions and contribute to the achievement of regional order book, turnover and margin targets.\nLead tender interviews, presentations and clarification meetings, effectively communicating Galliford Try's value proposition and solution• Take ownership of the pre-construction process on assigned opportunities, from expression of interest and PQQ through tender, PCSA and contract award.\nLead bid strategy development, win themes and client engagement plans for each opportunity.Leadership\n\nLead, coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary bid teams across estimating, design, planning, bid writing, graphics, commercial and operations.\nMentor and develop pre-construction work winning team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.Commercial & Technical\n\nOversee the development of robust cost plans, estimates and pricing strategies in collaboration with the Estimating team.\nLead design reviews, buildability workshops, value engineering and carbon reduction initiatives to develop competitive, deliverable solutions.\nManage two-stage Pre-Construction processes, driving design development, cost certainty, procurement and programme to an agreed contract sum.\nIdentify, quantify and manage risk and opportunity, leading risk workshops and preparing documentation for governance reviews and tender settlement meetings.\nEnsure submissions comply with company governance, Building Safety Act requirements, quality standards and BMS procedures.Relationships\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, framework managers and the regional supply chain, representing the business at client meetings, interviews and presentations.\nDrive early supply chain engagement to secure competitive, capable subcontractor and supplier partners within the region.\nDevelop social value, sustainability and community commitments that are realistic, measurable and deliverable.Handover & Continuous Improvement\n\nEnsure a structured handover of successful projects to the delivery team so that bid commitments, risk allowances and programme assumptions are fully understood.\nMaintain bid performance metrics, capture client feedback and lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement in the pre-construction process.Location requirements\n\nThis role is based in Team Valley and requires regular travel throughout the North East and Yorkshire region, including Leeds, client offices and project sites.This is not an exhaustive list of duties.\n\nAbout You:\nLeadership Skills\nConfident, collaborative leader able to bring together and direct multidisciplinary bid teams.\nStrategic thinker able to balance client requirements, commercial objectives and operational deliverability.\nDecisive, with the ability to make sound judgements under tender deadlines.\nCommitted to developing people and building capability within the team.\n\nPeople Skills\nExcellent stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities with clients, consultants and supply chain.\nStrong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to lead client interviews.\nSkilled facilitator of workshops, reviews and negotiations.\nDemonstrates Galliford Try values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.\n\nCommercial & Operational Skills\nStrong commercial acumen with a sound understanding of risk, margin and cost certainty.\nStrong work-winning mindset with the ability to identify client drivers, develop winning solutions and convert opportunities into secured projects.\nAbility to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.\nExcellent planning, organisational and prioritisation skills.\nStrong understanding of construction methodologies, procurement routes and project delivery.\nExperience\nProven experience as a Pre-Construction Manager\nExperience leading single-stage, two-stage and framework tenders, including management of PCSAs.
