Location: Warrington
An opportunity has arisen for a Project Engineer to join the Capital Maintenance team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.
You will work on our Welsh Water framework, delivering Capital Maintenance schemes across Treatment, Waste and Water assets - a high volume of smaller-value interventions on live operational sites, rather than single large-scale builds.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the Warrington area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites and projects in the Region, often managing several schemes concurrently.
What you will be doing
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our collaborative team on Welsh Water.
You will:
- Be an integral part of our Project Delivery team, working alongside internal and external multi-discipline designers and Project Engineers (Process, Structural, Electrical & Mechanical Design).
- Manage a portfolio of Capital Maintenance schemes in parallel, prioritising and sequencing work to meet programme and budget across multiple sites.
- Collaborate with client operational teams to plan and deliver works with minimal disruption to live, operational assets.
- Lead on producing construction stage documentation and obtain the permits and approvals needed to mobilise quickly across sites.
- Engage and manage internal resources and sub-contractors through pre-construction, site investigation, design and construction phases, often on compressed timescales.
- Act as a vital link between the Client, key third-party stakeholders and the supply chain, ensuring clear communication and effective programming of works.
- Build and maintain strong relationships, demonstrating flexibility, resilience and a positive, solutions-focused approach.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards with transparency and integrity.
- Participate in design, progress and site meetings, supporting team development through mentoring and coaching.
- Contribute to programme reviews, cost management and compliance with our delivery processes using Common Data Environments (CDE).
About you

- Bring experience delivering Capital Maintenance or minor works programmes in a regulated infrastructure setting, with relevant qualifications.
- Understand NEC3/4 contractual requirements and demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development.
- Have a sound knowledge of current legislation, working in line with QA, H&S procedures and CDM awareness.
- Show strong organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise across multiple live schemes and meet deadlines.
- Remain focused and adaptable when priorities shift between sites, with a willingness to learn and embrace new ways of working.
- Communicate effectively, listen actively and offer constructive feedback in a respectful and supportive way.
