If speculative CVs are sent, no fee will be applicable - please direct all queries to the relevant Resourcing Partner.\nQuantity Surveyor\nLocation - Durham\nAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Division. The role is required to support the delivery of capital works applicable to water sector frameworks involving clients such as Northumbrian Water\nYou will report into the Senior QS and you will have the opportunity to frequently visit your project site(s) as well as relevant Galliford Try and Client offices.\nWhat you will be doing:\nEnsure a safe working environment.\nResponsible for all commercial aspects of project delivery from tender through to final account.\nOversee procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials.\nManagement of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and change control.\nProduce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract.\nManage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.\nManage risks & opportunities to achieve enhanced margin position.\nProduce, submit, and agree monthly applications, to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract.\nLiaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required.\nProduce, and be able to present, detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation’s (CVR) as required by the operating unit or project.\nAssist in achieving business targets including cash, profit, return on capital and sales.\nProduce and maintain a detailed ‘Cost Plan’, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor ‘liabilities’ and use of Oracle based cost analyses.\nInterpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.\nAttend weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors. \nMaintain a positive working relationship with the senior leadership team, peers and teams.\nSupport the development of junior QS staff within the operating unit.\nApply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ in maximising value and profit.\nBe available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.\nAbout you:\nProfessional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (Desirable).\nRelevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment.\nExposure on large single or multiple smaller schemes.\nCSCS appropriate.\nExperience of using Microsoft Office suite, e.g. Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.\nWhat We Can Offer in Return:\nWith an impressive order book of over £4.1 billion we are one of the industry’s leading principal contractors, affording you the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most exciting projects offering you stability as well as the chance to stretch your capabilities and realise long held career goals.
